    Re: Caffeine and my induction

Well it's now day 14 of my induction and I am caffeine and sweetener free for 4 days. I am going to stay on induction for the next week and see how the detox effects my weight loss.

      Re: Caffeine and my induction

Hi everyone. This is day 10 of the detox and all is going well. I am still finding that the water is helping. I guess what I am missing now is the routine. That cup of tea in the morning with breakfast and the like. I have moved from induction to rung one with a modest increase in veg. The reasons are in my journal. Hope you all have a great day.

          Re: Caffeine and my induction

I don't understand the caffeine thing... I don't seem to be affected by having or not having caffeine. I can drink unsweet white/green tea (next to no caffeine) or Diet Sprite/ Sprite Zero (no caffeine) and I feel fine and still lose weight. I can also drink 4 16oz cans of Sugar Free Full Throttle (loaded with caffeine but 0 carbs) and it makes no difference in my symptoms or weight loss. I don't have a withdrawl and I don't crave caffeine or feel sluggish without it.

I went from 245 to 185 without eliminating caffeine and now that I've crawled back to 200 I'm back to induction and want to reach a goal of 175-180. I started last Monday so it's 7 days later and I've lost 7lbs - without eliminating caffeine (I've had Diet Cherry Coke & Sugar Free Full Throttle several times. I know we're supposed to drink 'plain' water but I can only take so much. I'd rather drink a quality green tea or diet soda even if it's got caffeine. I read here that caffeine is supposed to make me crave sweets but it doesn't. Then again, I've never craved sweets. My weakness is things like chicken nuggets, fried seafoods, and snack foods in front of the TV (popcorn, Doritos, Sun Chips, etc). Skipping good beers was also kind of tough but there's always vodka!

For what it's worth, I didn't start gaining weight until I started slowly adding potato and white bread carbs back to my diet. Without them I could eat pretty much what I want, including nuggets and fried seafoods, as long as I skipped the potatos and white breads.

            Re: Caffeine and my induction

I have just passed the 2 week mark of the detox and everything is going great. I find that I do not miss the caffeine or the artificial sweeteners at all and even wanting the morning ritual is fading fast.

I am hoping to stay off the caffeine for good but not sure about the stevia. After all it is a natural sweetener and I have found that it is called for in some low carb recipes. I have stopped using the sugarless gums and frankenfood products but am looking forward to trying some new foods and recipes.
