  • new club member!

Let me tell you, I have been so terrified of doing Atkins again for about the past year (I HATE gaining weight back! )...but I am ready to do it and continue on it for life this time, no turning back!

Richard (user name Korelis on here) is my husband, and he's been an excellent motivation for me in many ways. We started Atkins for real for the first time about July of last year. I think we lasted about 3 months or so before Hurricane Rita hit and we we stuck in my in-laws house with some not so good food choices! We stopped then and have started on it again and again after that. My first time, I lost 34 pounds I think, and it was excellent! So happy with myself...then I gained 60-70 pounds in the past year, what I had lost plus at little more than 30 more putting me at my all time high weight of 329 . I knew that Atkins had worked, but didn't want to quit again and get higher and higher!!!

I knew I needed to lose weight for REAL, no excuses, when I, at the age of 21, went to the doctor for swollen legs. It was so bad it hurt to walk. I am 21! Patients I had in nursing homes had that problem, not me!!! So I did something abuot it. I made a real effort for about a month to eat BETTER and I did just that and (along with my water pills for my legs) lost about 15 pounds now. I am proud of myself for it , but I know that I need more...

Richard and I were looking at the success stories and before and after pictures on here this weekend and THAT is what I want! I want to be one of y'all who can say "I lost 100+ pounds!!!"

In fact, on my STA, or techinally third or fourth time around!, I will succeed, I will do it, and in a few months I WILL BE THE ONE!!!

Welcome! To your husband too. There's no need to ever quit Atkins. Just go through all the phases and at the end you can have anything you want! Okay, not twinkies and junkies, but you will be so used to eating beautiful, healthy food that you won't want that stuff anyway. Stay strong! We're with ya!

Man, no twinkies is tough! LOL, I went shopping yesterday to get foods to start Atkins and ended up getting sick for the rest of the afternoon and pushed it off till today. I was so upset at getting sick and told my husband "dang it! I passed up donuts to start today!!!"

Haha, I know I can do it and I will do well too! Thanks for the welcome and encouragement!!!

When we lived in the house (pre hurricane) I'd be in my room on the laptop and IM the kids in the living room. My daughter and I emailed a lot through those teen years.. she could say what she wanted without mom cutting her off, had my full attention, etc. She also would read my replies and really think about what I said was not in defensive mode automatically. She also didn't tune me out LOL

Tammy and I used to play online video games (World of Warcraft). We used Ventrilo (VOIP program) to talk to other members. Ended talking to each other when we where 3ft away from each other.

That's such a good idea, Rachel. I used to talk to my family more through email in college when things were awkward because it was my first time away from home. It really does help! From a kids point of view, I am sure she REALLY appreciates that!
