  • Fit Day Question

Do most of you use the foods listed or is it better to make a custom food list and input your own amounts to use?

It's giving me a headache and I haven't entered but 3 things off of their lists!

I'm will to try.. but I need advice and guidance

    I think I HAVE THE SAME HEADACHE>>>>>
Jenna is our guru! She is having great success with fitday, so that's got my attention...
they are not flexible if you misspell a vegtable either! avacado vs avocado...
I don't understand "custom foods"...and didn't want to wear out my welcome with my good friend, who have taken much PM time with me....
So, Rachel, let's keep this thread going and get all our questions answered...

      Re: Fit Day Question

Hmmmm......when I try to venture on to fitday, I input my own information off of the nutritional info on the package because I feel that it is most accurate. So I would say follow the NI on the package and input the info into fitday. I always found fitday to be a little off. Hopefully Dragonflymoon will pop in later and tell you her opinion. She has had awesome success with fitday the last few weeks.

oKay, hit a snag. I put in my brand of peanut butter. It has 4 carbs with 1 fiber. So, that's actually 3 carbs. But when I select it as a food eaten it shows I had 4 carbs. is there a place to see fiber? Oh wait! I think at the top? LOL, just answered my own question! Thanks me!!!

I'm confused about moving up the rungs and percentages. I'll have to play with it daily until I get the hang of it I guess. I know as I move up the rungs my carb percentage increases and my fat should stay at about 60-65%... I just have too many extra carbs like salad dressing and bacon bits, etc. Gotta start watching those. I was really shocked at the numbers when I started pluggin them in!

I guess i missed quite a bit of conversation today, huh?! My new favorite tool... Fitday. I love it. Which is hysterical because it was the LAST thing that i wanted to do. I am generally pretty lazy by nature and it just seemed like too much work & too much of a hassle for me. But i am telling you... i am like a born again Fitday convert... LOL.

I do find some things on their list but generally most of the stuff i am inputting is by hand in the custom section. It is time consuming, however, once it is in the system you don't have to input it again, you just select it from the list. I tend to eat the same things over and over throughout the week so it works well for me. Jimmie is right, it is so easy once you get the hang of it! I do what Sarah does ~ i input my own information right from the nutritional info on the package. This way you know you are getting it right!

Jess ~ please don't worry about asking me questions - i am happy to help! That goes for anyone else too... we are all here for each other, right?!

The only issue i have run into so far is the same issue that Rachel mentioned with the dietary fiber. From what i have seen, the system does not factor in dietary fiber from the carbs, so i just mentally subtract it and put that figure in to the total carbs section, otherwise it will say i am eating more carbs than really counts.

All i have to say is that i was in a big stall for several weeks... i decided to try Fitday because i read a thread somewhere around here where the girl said that once she started using Fitday the pounds just starting coming off... i really wish i could find that thread! If anyone comes across it, please give me the link! I don't even remember what forum it was in... i really want to thank that girl!

I decided to try it out for a week, just one week, and see what my results were... first of all, i found out i was eating too much fat. My fat percentages were (embarrassingly!) over 70% on some days! I was eating too many calories too, so now i watch them and try to keep them under 2000 a day. And somedays i was eating too few calories... so i make sure to always eat more than 1200 a day. It really helps me stay on track. So far, since i've been doing Fitday for two weeks...

I started losing three pounds a week!!!

The stall is over... hopefully for awhile... and i feel great. I feel that i am really doing this "right" this time, and that i am hooked on Atkins for life. I am somewhere between Extended Induction and Rung One, Veggies right now. Somedays i add in 5 carbs of veggies and somedays i don't make that. I want to take my time with the Rungs (something i never even made it to previously on Atkins) to assure that i am doing this right.

Good luck with Fitday! I love it!!! I know you will too...

Thanks! Yes, the scale was stuck and I was shocked at my intake numbers! Hopefully this will get it moving again

I'm finaggaling with the percentages. Now I must go eat my raspberries and my steak and tomatoe... Fitday says I must LOL

I started using Fitday too. I am making all of mine custom because I have found them different than my food labels. And my doggies love me when I have meats and food packages at the computer when I'm entering them in.

Okay...concerning ratios. As you climb the rungs your CARBS goes UP. And..sorry...your FAT goes DOWN. The protein stays the same at about 25-30%. Now remember the fat will go down slowly as you are only adding 5 grams of carbs at a time.

I custom entered most of my foods. Except for basics like the vegies and salads. After a while it will not be so much work as you tend to eat some stuff all the time.
