  • Third times a charm...

    Hello,

This isn't my second time around, this is my third. I seem to be able to lose about 30 pounds on no matter what diet I do and then I stall and quit. So, I am going to do it this time. I have to. So, I am restarting tomorrow. I am back!

Welcome back! Since you know that you quit after starting to lose the weight, have you figured out why?

Do you get bored with the foods you are eating? If so, plan ahead for some new recipes that will keep your menu from getting ho-hum.

Do you stop when you have issues that arise in your life? If so, then figure out what you anticipate could happen that might interfer with your new life-style - then figure out ahead of time what actions you will take instead of eating.

I know it gets to sound like an old record (make plans and follow through)...but that really is the only way to avoid the obstacles that give us excuses to go back to our old ways. I know because I was an excuse-a-holic. I had a zillion excuses to keep myself fat. Now, I am addicted to planning. I make plans for everything that happens or will happen in my life. I keep them written up in my journal and pull them out as I need them.

Best wishes!! We are happy to have you back!!

I think the reason I guit is I go into a stall. Then, I get frustrated and I cheat and there I go...Same story; different day. I am hoping that since I know this now, I can alter the behavior.

                        Deb,

Learning what makes us slip, fail, stop, whenever you call it.. and planning ahead for the next time is a big part at being successful. This time around I am using Fitday to keep foods in check as I move up the rungs, now exercising, water, reading the boards, planning ahead for parties, etc., and journaling. I've been bobbing with 4 pounds and am know I'm not doing something right. HOpefully I can avoid failing and continue on with my loss once I figure out what the culprit is.

As the saying goes.. be true to the diet and the diet will be true to you!

what the rungs mean to me:
                          rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
                          rung 4 - berries, melon
                          rung 5 - wine -
                          rung 6 - beans, hummus
                          rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
