  • Starting again!

Well, I'm sure some of you who've been around a few times have heard me say that a dozen times or so, eh?

I'm not sure why I haven't been able to start for real the last few times. I never make it past a day or two for some reason. I think I'm just not committed, to be honest. I also think that that's because my hair falls out when I do atkins, and I always think 'there must be some other way' and stop after a few days because I freak out at the thought of my hair falling out.

But, what I've come to realize is that my health is WAY more important than my hair (which comes back, right?) and all the problems that I had before my successful atkins run are all back. So, hair be darned, I'm doing it again. I'm on day two so far. And, of course, I get laid low with a sore throat and sinus headache today, isn't it Murphy's law? But, I'm going to stick with it!

This is my way of being accountable. You guys have all helped me through it before, so here we go again! Wish me luck!

    Re: Starting again!

WELCOME! My hair falls out all the time! Do you have curly hair? If so, it falls out faster than straight hair. Also, my nails and hair grow so much fast on Atkins due to all the good foods. So the hair is growing and replacing all the ones that fall out Hair falling out is usually a sign of not enough fat in a diet. But we know this is not true with ATkins.. so it's really growing and replacing itself Unless you are getting bald patches, I wouldn't worry.

Welcome back, Knicknack!!! I've heard of people having problems with their hair when they start on Atkins... Rachel may be right - i am a straight haired person and i haven't noticed any issues. Hang in there with it ~ like Rachel said, unless you have bald patches, i wouldn't be too concerned! Good luck, and keep on posting!

Yep, I have curly hair. My hairdresser said last time that I'd lost over half of my hair. I just cut it all off (since I was skinny I could do that!), and I stopped atkins because I panicked. This time, my plan is to keep atkinsing and see if it stops anyway. I've read in a few places here that it's supposed to only last a month or two and then it'll stop. So here's hoping!

(I've tried taking biotin and supplements, doesn't matter. If I even do atkins for two weeks, I lose hair a few months later. It really sucks!)

Curly hair falls out faster. Before Atkins and after starting atkins my hair fell at the same rate.. so I'm not too worried.

Get the book .. I think it's called Curly Girl. It's a great book on how to manage your curly hair and it explains why curly hair falls out faster

thanks all! Day two went well and day three is off to a good start.

I already know that my hair will fall out, it does it every time. The question is whether it'll stop or not. ack!

                  Re: Starting again!

Eeks, I had no idea about hair loss. That would make me crazy, too. I have straight hair and I never noticed losing much.

Ketosis is a really great thing, though, eh?
