  • please HELP!!!

Well I followed atkins very closely until i lost about 40 pounds. At that point I felt it was hard to follow because I felt restricted on my diet. I know that the diet itself wasnt restricting, but my imagination was.

What my question is, what did guys eat as far as snacks to get you through until lunch/dinner? I got tired of the same old (i.e. sausage and eggs for breakfast) Also, how did you vary your breakfast menus? Thanks!

    Re: please HELP!!!

As far as snacks, I keep grab bags in my frig to snack on. I'd have celery, green peppers, chunks of chicken, cheese or anything else I felt like. I'd sometimes have leftovers from dinner cut up in pieces such as pork chops, steak, mini-meatballs, cauliflower, cabbage, broccolli, even 1/2 avacado. The list is long, just take the induction foods and make up your own snacks. Don't eat as much as a full meal, just enough to satisfy your hunger till your next meal. If you are feeling deprived, then maybe you aren't eating enough at each meal or not eating often enough. Use fitday to determine the amount of proteins, fats and carbs you are consuming.

Breakfast doesn't have to be 'breakfast meals'. You can have eggs, (omelettes, scrambled, fried, boiled, poached, egg salad) or you can fix them as an egg wrap to wrap around your sausage, cheese, ham, bacon, chicken or whatever you want. I've fixed several of these and froze them so that you can just grab and reheat the next morning so you don't have to spend a lot of time.

I've also had left over from dinner for breakfast the next morning. Be creative and eat what satisfies you as long as it is on the induction list. (assuming you are on induction).

Instead of thinking about the foods that you can't have....experiment with the foods on the list and enjoy your meals. If you want hash browns/potatoes with your breakfast, use the cauliflower, radishes, jicama as substitutes for that food. Spices on your foods can also make your ordinary meals taste great.

I hope this helps. I'm sure others will give you ideas I have forgotten about, but these are some of the things I did to keep my meals interesting.

      Re: please HELP!!!

I made a lot of breakfast "muffins" or quiche, or the baked omelette type thing. Basically you make an omelette thing once a week, and eat it for breakfast or freeze it for variety. By 'thing' i mean it's more or less a giant egg casserole, that you bake in the oven like a quiche (but with less cream than a quiche). So, you can put whatever you want in that, and freeze it, and have a different one every day. I even made buffalo chicken and celery ones before, you just have to be inventive!

There's some recipes in the recipe section for breakfast muffins (that are really baked omelettes) or the egg casserole thingy (no idea what it is called). My quiche recipe can be found somewhere, I typed it up enough times!

As for snacks, I usually have a Fage 2% yogurt at 10:30 and a string cheese at about 4. If I'm particularly hungry (or was the day before, anyway), I'll pack leftovers for the 4 pm snack instead. I know technically yogurt isn't on the induction list, but it's so good for you, and the Fage kind is low in carbs (http://www.fageusa.com/2_yogurt_info.html) too. So, if you're not on SUPER strict induction, or have gotten up to the dairy rung, I highly suggest it. It's the only thing I eat that isn't induction legal. It does have 8 carbs, but I rarely get near 20 anyway what with all the lettuce I eat! :P
