    Hey Everyone,
Today was weigh day ( I weigh on Thursdays and Mondays). The scale didn't budge. Even though I give advice all the time that the scales are the devil, I can't help but be brought down by the darned thing. I have lost 9lbs already, but I didn't think I would plateu (sp*?) so soon. No breakfast this morning, I left it in the fridge while I went to work. For lunch some cucumbers, radishes, and fried chicken (the recipe with the pork rinds). Supper I baked me up about 1 1/2 cups of portebello mushrooms dipped in egg, rolled in pork rinds, and fried. THen stuffed them with cheese and ham (real ham not the sugary additive stuff!) and baked them. I ate them all. Then I felt bad about myself and ate some more pork rinds. I feel so pathetic! I'm not going to give in because I have come so far already. Besides the OVER-indulging on the pork rinds I have been living a clean induction (gallons of water included!). Maybe Monday will bring better results.

Hey Jamie, Monday will bring better results! Stay in the game because it really works! I haven't lost as much as I would have expected by now. I'm doing my second week of extended induction and have lost about 10 pounds all together. That's 2.5 pounds per week! I have another 25 to go and was hoping to make more headway but.... no dice! Ya know what? It's no big deal. I'll lose slowly, I guess. It really doesn't matter how quickly I lose, because I'm not going back to eating cake and cookies as soon as I reach goal.... I just have to be patient.

9 pounds in 11 days is a great deal of weight. You should celebrate your success! You should also redouble your commitment to sticking with this. That's what I'm trying to do. It will work. Just stick with it!

      Jaime,
Girl don't we always want more than we get! that's part of what we have to deal with, while going thru Atkins. We can only control the food, the water and the exercise...We can only build the structure that will lead to success, the weight comes off as it will. We can't control the weight loss or we would and be done with it...
You are so right, at times the devil is in the scales..I think you should focus on other things...You might consider joinging the Oct8-21 Weight, No Weigh challenge...they are trying to get it across the boards...look up Jimmie Jo, she is pushing it..
So, girl build your structure. Be careful with that binge type behavior...deal with it, work on those feelings...Girl we all have to deal with not getting more of what we want...I have had to work so hard, and not make it about the weight, but lifestyle because, truthfully I want to be here on Jan 1, not pissed off somewhere because I did not looose it fast enough (and I have been thru it with the scales too)..I want to be here Aug 1, a whole year from when we started, where I dont' want to go is back to emotional eating....and being lost in carb addictions....
the weight is going to follow your excellent plan...focus on the plan, watch out for the emotions, they can't be trusted, focus on the plan...it will all happen...it really will.

Hey Jamie, You haven't stalled. 9lbs. in 11 days is excellent. Your meals sound fine, not to mention delicious. But if you think you may be doing something to cause this, make sure you measure one cup of mushrooms, uncooked. I'm one who could eat a few cups of them and pile them above the top. I have been going by the "about" amount and have not measure them as a real one cup and know that's what I'm doing wrong. Congratulations on such a good weight loss.

          Morning Gang,
I woke up feeling alot better this morning. Must have been in a mood yesterday. Thanks for your supporting words, but now this brings me to another question. Babs you said " But if you think you may be doing something to cause this, make sure you measure one cup of mushrooms" Did this mean I'm only supposed to have a cup a day or did this mean measure one cup so I don't overeat? I substitute my 3 cups of salad for 3 cups of cucumbers, radishes, celery, and mushrooms. Ack! Have I done something wrong??

            Re: Feeling Guilty

You are doing nothing wrong with regards to vegetables, except I would recommend eating 2 cups of the "salad" vegetables and 1 cup of the "other" vegetables so that you get the most out of your vegetables with regard to carbohydrates, nutrients, and FIBER!

From one of the FAQ stickies on what foods are acceptable:
            http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6781
            Vegetables

You can have two to three cups per day of: ANY of these are considered "salad"
            alfalfa sprouts
            daikon
            mushrooms
            arugula
            endive
            parsley
            bok choy
            escarole
            peppers
            celery
            fennel
            radicchio
            chicory
            jicama
            radishes
            chives
            lettuce
            romaine lettuce
            cucumber
            moche
            sorrel
These salad vegetables are high in phytonutrients and provide a good source of fiber.

            Other Vegetables
You can have one cup per day of these veggies if salad does not exceed two cups. The following vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables:

            artichoke
            celery root
            pumpkin
            artichoke hearts
            rhubarb
            asparagus
            chard
            sauerkraut
            bamboo shoots
            collard greens
            scallions
            dandelion
            snow peas
            bean sprouts
            dandelion greens
            spaghetti squash
            beet greens
            eggplant
            spinach
            broccoli
            hearts of palm
            string or wax beans
            broccoli rabe
            kale
            summer squash
            brussels
            kohlrabi
            tomato
            bean sprouts
            leeks
            turnips
            cabbage
            okra
            water chestnuts
            cauliflower
            onion
            zucchini
If a vegetable, such as spinach or tomato, cooks down significantly, it must be measured raw so as not to underestimate its carb count.

                Re: Feeling Guilty

Oh yah, the scale is the devil! I am a habitual weigher. I love to see those new numbers and I love when the scale moves into new numbers. That devil of a scale has not been kind to me. I even bumped down to a rung below what I was eating and it's coming down.. just very slowly. BUT, the inches are moving. I weigh the same, but my clothes are much looser. That's atkins for ya! I tried not getting on the scale, but I need reinforcement that what I am doing IS right and IS working. Unfortunately, the scale is not hearing that. Oh well.. I'm not giving up. I will continue with this way of eating. The scale has to eventually move, right? Heck, even my calories are way lower (1200-2000) and the scale refuses to move. I figure once it starts moving again it will go at a steady pace - that's what I'm hoping for anyway. I just feel so much better. The honeymoon is over, like Jess says, and now the work part begins. Am I ready to work for it? you bet! Speaking of.. time to check work and do my pilates if there is none I WILL SUCCEED!

I'm sorry, I goofed. You're right--mushrooms are in the 3 cup group. I automatically think of them as the "other vegetables " just to make sure I do like Valid Rogue said here and eat the 2 cups of actual salad. But you are certainly not held to that, but Valid Rogue is right with the vitamins and such.
