I've been struggling with the scale not moving for weeks. Finally, hubby mentioned some sticks. I had forgotten about them. My wonderful husband pickd some up for me. Guess what? I'm NOT in ketosis. No wonder the darn scale is not moving! I dunno when or what knocked me out, but earlier this week I had decided to bump down from berries. Scale moved..but on the lower end of the same 3 pounds I have been battling for a month! I also bumped down to nuts only 3 times in a week. I'm seriously thinking of bumping down to the veggie rung and slowly working my way up the ladder again.

I tested again tonight and still not in ketosis. I figure it may take a few days.

So, the answer to my question of why I haven't lost any weight - I'M NOT IN KETOSIS!

I'm happy now that I know what the problem is and I"m working on it. Hopefully the scale will be moving again before long.

When you get back into Ketosis, you will have a diminished appetite, and your cravings will supside, if you are having them...
I admire your courage to go find the problem, and now make the positive adjustment to get the weight loss rolling again...You do walk away with more understanding about what your body can tolerate! That's a very good thing and you have over come this disappointment, and THAT's even better! Way to go Rachel!!!!

Funny thing.. I don't have a problem with appetite or cravings. I mean, I get hungry..but nothing I cannot handle. Mind over matter? I'm thinking I'm IN ketosis and I"m really not.. but just thinking I am keeps cravings away? Could be!

I am learning so much about my body, foods and my own willingness to stick to this forever. I tested again this morning and still nothing. I'm hoping to get back into ketosis soon. I just keep thinking I wasted an entire MONTH! That's like.. 8 pounds!!! ARGH!

New goals.. get into ketosis and monitor foods closely. Since I'm out of ketosis, should I go back to induction for 3 days?

You know, i don't think you wasted a month, you learned something very big that you may come back and kiss this experience a few times....sometimes these things are things we really REALLY learn from...time will tell.

I've never used these, but want to. Are they only available online? I asked at some smaller RX pharmacies, and they didn't want to be bothered with it. I think I said the "A" word (atkins)

I got mine at super walmart.. near the diabetic items in pharmacy. Right off the shelf!

I was trying to figure out where i went wrong - with what food - and it never occurred to me that I may not be in ketosis at all! Very frustrating. But.. this teaches me to slow down. Something can be learned everytime we stumble. I don't look at it as I failed. Failure would be giving up totally. I may stumble many times thoughout my journey.. but I will never give up totally Soon I will be moving down the scale again. Whoo hoo!

Thanks Rachel. We have a regular size Walmart, so I'll look by the diabetic supplies at the pharmacy again.

Be careful putting too much faith in the Ketostix.
Personally, for me, I know I never show ketosis on the sticks when I am PMSing.
And you CAN be in Ketosis and still not lose weight.

                  Rachel,

The good thing is that you are learning and being vigilant about find out what is happening with your food, body, weight loss... It is all a learning experience! And you are an inspiration to not losing faith even when the scales are not moving... thank you!!!

The stixs helped me the last time on this woe and I will be picking them up again tomorrow... I do not have the metallic taste and still have some cravings...and since I am not looking at the scale, I feel like I need something to see if I am doing everything right on Induction...

Now I have heard that if you are drinking a lot of water or it is TOM as Barbde said, it may not register!

Hang in there You will figure out what is causing it... and it is nice to have such a sweet hubby!!!

Keep us posted on your progress

Yes, he is my rock. My best friend

Too much water? Hmmm....I drink my eight 8oz of water a day. I'll try again in the morning. Tonight I was hungry. Ravenous. Not munchy, but hungry.

I had the metallic taste too..and the scale was not moving and then the tape was not moving.. and ding, ding.. it hit me that maybe I was no longer in Ketosis.

Ahh faith. Yes, I do tend to have a lot of that The hurricane tested me and I won... this hurdle will not knock me out of the race. I plan to WIN and I want all the tools to help me do that
