  • What are your positive motivators?

So, I thought it might be nice to see how other people motivate themselves as they move along the weight loss chart.

I find that if I focus on 'having' to diet, and 'not cheating' and all of the negative things, that I fall off the wagon much more quickly. If I focus on the positive things, then I tend to do better.

So what are your positive things?

    Some of mine:

    1) I have more energy
    2) I am healthier
    3) My shoulders don't hurt at the end of the day anymore
    4) my pants are baggy!
    5) I LOVE BACON!
    6) I can walk up stairs without huffing

So what are yours? How do you motivate yourself and keep yourself on track? what are the good things about how you're changing your life? Inquiring minds want to know!

My motivators are all of you. I do try to get here everyday if not twice a day just to see how everyone is doing. You know, there is power in numbers and we have the power to do this.

    Keep up the great work.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!

Re: What are your positive motivators?

Wow, this is a good post... and quite perfect for me to read this morning, as i have been struggling over the past few days with a cold, and with staying on track. Seems like when i am sick i tend to make excuses and fall off course... which is what happened to me over the weekend.

Between this board & my buddy, Sarah, i think i'll be able to pull through today... but it is hard. Once you start down that path it is hard to get back on track. For me, at least, it is!

So this was a good one for me to read today ~ thank you for posting!

I agree with all of your reasons for motivation... it's been three months since i have be on Atkins this time around... i started in June of 2005 and since then i've lost 55 pounds! I took a silly "break" last year during the holidays and regained some weight, which is now all off again plus some... so i have been doing great, and i feel great (with the exception of this stupid never-ending cold!) I am fitting into all of my size 16 clothes again and that is a huge positive motivator right there.

I have to agree with Nelson that ADBB is a huge HUGE motivator for me... instead of reaching for triscuit crackers this morning i came here & read this... and that was enough to keep me on track. Thanks, everyone!

My motivation is being able to run a little bit more each week without being tired.
My motivation is my boyfriend, who loves me as all sizes and shapes, but loves to see me happy and healthy more than anything.
My motivation is going hiking in the mountains next summer for my birthday.
My motivation is that I can eat if I'm hungry! And it's GOOD food, too.
My motivation is knowing I'm not alone in this. Thanks ADBB.

                For me,
I am proud of the choices I am making. I am no longer embarassed.
I feel good every day, that motivates me.
Gaining strength allows me to demostrate turning my life around to my daughter, so she too can turn her life around. That's the biggest thing. Staying true, so she will respect me and follow along.
I love bike riding, and hiking!

Re: What are your positive motivators?

                  My motivators:

My husband. He is the love of my life and has talked to me lovingly on and off throughout the years of losing weight to be healthy and celebrate many years of marriage together. He is my strength when I get weak. He is my role model because he too changed his life for the better several years ago.

My kids. They are my life, my world. I want to set good examples for them and show them that you CAN achieve any goal you set with a little hard work and determination.

Myself. I may be last on the list but I'm top priority. For many years I was put last. God, spouse and kids came first. I took care of everything. Then I realized the kids were getting old enough to start taking care of themselves more and I wasn't setting a very good example by never taking care of my own self. I stopped sitting all the time and I'm up moving and shaking Hopefully they will learn a balance of taking care of yourself and taking care of others.
