  • move on to OWL?

Ok, I started Atkins in August, but did not do a clean induction. I decided to go back from OWL to Induction again, and this time I did it right. It's been one week on induction and I'm trying to decide--should I do induction for another week, or should I go into OWL?

If the answer is in DANDR I missed it. I didn't cheat and go back to induction, I just decided I needed to REALLY clean my system out and break some habits.

So, should I do induction for another week, or go to OWL?

The beginnings of the OWL chapter asks you what you want, faster weight loss, or more selections? It's a personal choice...Are you happy with the induction foods, are you hungering for more choice, and more veggies...
I have stayed on induction, very happily. My daughter is on the veggie rung, which she has had extra 5gm of veggie carbs...
    It's a personal preference...

I think that if you feel youve "broken those habits", it would be time to move on to OWL. If you haven't already, start a journal or at least use fitday.com so you can monitor your reactions to the foods that you've added. The first step is more veggies so that should be an easyone

chapter 13 of DANDR asks the questions you need to answer. Based on your answers it tells if it is time to stay or move. if you stay redo the questions every day cause it is better to move and have the variety then be bored and jump off on a high carb cheat.

The best thing I ever did for myself was move into OWL. It is a personal choice, but this is my second time doing it. The first time I never really moved into OWL and I failed by getting bored and eating foods off plan. This second time I moved into OWL and have added all kinds of food back, continued to lose wayyyyyy more than I did the first time and I don't feel deprived.

            Re: move on to OWL?

I'm going to stay on induction for another week, then move into OWL. I decided that a clean induction should be the whole 2 weeks--and besides, I lost 7lb. on my week of clean induction!!! Gosh I really wish I would have done a clean induction in August when I started atkins, I would have lost even more!

Thanks for all of your advice. I did re-read chapter 12, and that also influenced my decision. I don't feel bored or deprived with my food choices yet, so I'm gonna stick around with Induction for at least another week.

            Thanks )

Julirama, good for you! I'm a big advocate of moving into OWL, but I'm a bigger advocate of our members making informed decisions on their own. Good for you for reading the book, asking for advice and then listening to YOUR body and mind to make an informed decision.

glad you made your decision. now rememeber keep asking yourself those questions and if you start feeling tired it might also be time to move for the larger variety of micronutriants found in the foods.

                happy low carbing.
