  • Ack, need help!

Well, today that little voice is attacking me:

"whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy can't I eat normal food?"

So, I need your help, STACers! Help me remember why I'm doing this, why this is good for me, why this way of life is a healthier one. I'm *this* close to reaching for something bad for me. ack!

Normal food? You mean foods loaded with sugars and carbs that are gonna make you feel horrible after eathing them. That minute or two of pleasure will soon turn to guilt and feeling like you let yourself down! It will also set you into a cycle of no return!

You can eat them.. all you want.. but you are worth more than the short pleasure food can give you! Your health and well being is priceless. You are deserving of better health!

So... whatcha gonna do? Exercise? Drink water? Nibble some proteins to take about that feeling of wanting something off program?

let us know! we all struggle with this.. those evil thoughts were in my head yesterday while the kids had candy corn! gonnna be a long October !

You can eat normal food! I consider steak, eggs, salad greens, pumpkin, cauliflower, butter, cream, etc. the most "normal" foods you can eat! They are 100% natural, rich, and tasty. The foods that you are craving are anything but normal! They are like Frankenstein's monster, a hodge podge of all sorts of disgusting-for-you things, like trans-fats, sugars, preservatives, and other chemicals.

Don't focus on the stuff you shouldn't eat anyway--focus on the good-for-you foods you CAN eat and eventually will love eating! Where else can you eat a juicy steak in butter sauce and still lose weight?!?!? Your body will thank you!

And let's talk about normal food anyway.

For milennia our ancestors ate pemmican, meat and berries, fish, flax seed meal and fat.

Only in the last couple hundred years have we made our diet subsistant in the grains, starchy potatoes, and then, with the industrial revolution came even emptier carbs in the last 150 years or so!

So tell me: what is normal?

Because our American Diet is anything but, girlfriend.

        Anything but.

Let's see. I will tell you what I would tell myself. You are on Atkins and not eating "normal food" because I see you have lost weight that was not possible to do before. You will feel sick and awful in more ways than one if you give in to the old ways, and it can be so hard to get back on track.

Ask yourself what is it you want to eat, and is it something special that there could be a substitute for in the recipe section? Do you need to have more of our allowed foods on hand to reach for? I see you have two goals to reach for in your signature. Focus on them, and don't let your old thoughts take over.

Some have posted to me to start moving up the rungs if I feel the need for a variety of other foods. I am thinking about it. Maybe this would be good for you now too.

The best reason for you to not give in: In about 2 little pounds, you will be 1/3 of the way to your goal. This is fantastic. You have worked hard to get here and deserve to reach your goal!

            Re: Ack, need help!

YOU are not normal. YOUR body does not process sugars and carbs the same way my skinny husband's does, your body can't handle all that you gave it, and it store the excess as fat. You are not normal, or you would be a normal weight. Dr. Atkins has found a way to help you restore the locked up fat body and shed the fat, and take you to a more peaceful place with blood sugars. You feel better when you are in control of the foods, take that bite and see where it lands you and who will be in control! Normal people don't eat like we did. Normal people know when to stop, they are not controlled by carbs...Do you want that cycle to lock you back up in it's jail...
Sounds like a tough day. Keep the control in your hands. Minute, by minute, or hour by hour...Hold on. Have a rich high fat and protein lunch...grab some fresh air.
Remember WHY YOU CAME BACK and hold on to that dream girl, HOLD ON TO YOUR DREAM.

If you are getting bored with the foods and need a little thrill, why not move to the next rung of OWL? Each time I move up I'm so much more happy with the food. Now that I'm on the berries rung I can see this as being a way to eat for life -- yes, I am that happy with the foods.

Sooo, Nicknack, how are you doing today?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
