  • Hi, Hope you don't mind my slipping in

I thought i should join this forum as this is my actual hard core focused time doing atkins. I have stopped and started but it never lasted more than a week. My first time losing i loved it, i found energy, i looked good felt good and jumped on the scale and saw it go down down down weekly until i lost 50 lbs in 2.5 months. I even loved exercising.

This time around i am having a really hard time catching the energy train. Its not that i am not feeling good, i just can't seem to step up the energy to get myself motivated to work out. I am not sure if this is a sympton of stac, or if its all in my head. I have the food down, i have the water down, i take supps and vitamins religiously, i am even getting my veggies in pretty well, but i can't seem to get myself to enjoy or even want to exercise. I do the bare minimum of the WEC but that is all, and i even have a slug or two there.

So any ideas on what you have done to actually get yourself motivated in any portion of Atkins this time around would be helpful.

I look forward to chattin with everyone and getting to know you.

Good luck on all your successes!!!

It's one of those things a lot of us deal with, especially when depression is also involved (a chemistry brain thinger that sucks all your energy). The good news is this:

    1. Hormones are released into your system when you burn fat. So embrace the moody. It's good.

    2. Weight loss will sometimes make you tired. That fat burning furnace in your left butt cheek takes energy.

    3. Starting out slow is the key! Maybe just walk for 5 minutes today. Set that simple goal. Half the time you'll find you're willingly exceeding that goal. Still, why stress? Doing something is the right start!

No matter what, you will be successful when you examine why and then take action. Today is that day, and you've already taken the first step!

Abstractillllllll. Hey welcome, you have accomplished sooo very much...
I have found in my limited time here, that we all get some of it going but there is usually SOMETHING that lags behind, be it the water, supps or exercise...
Personally, I started on the bike before I took a bite! The day I came back to my right mind, I got on the bike in front of the tv and went 15 mins...it took forever, and I drank a bottle of water, and somehow that tipped the scale, so to speak and I was off to Sam's for a boatload of proteins and fats...I have not looked back...
Exercise is something that I feel the effects of easily....the endorphines are released usually after a good 20 min workout for me...Endorphines really make a feel good. I feel strong, confident and accomplished from exercise...

I want to encourage you to find the right thing that works for you. Walking I hate, biking I love, hiking in the woods, I am ok with... I can do an ellipitcal but the mintues drag forever on it...
It will increase your energy when you do it. I know cleo says maybe just 5 mins. I would say 20 mins, and push a little and then slow it down then push it..There was a program out there "Body for Life" and on the cardio days, you only worked out 20mins...you just did intense intravels...Intensity for you and me will be different based on our fitness level and weight...What was so intense almost 3 mos ago I doubled this morning. Once you get going momentum will build and you will finally get it clicking!!!!
You can do this, it will do so much for you...shoot for that 20 mins, every day doing different things until you find the right connection that clicks and motivates....YOU CAN DO IT...

Re: Hi, Hope you don't mind my slipping in

Perhaps you need a new exercise to motivate you??? Walking bores me and I had done all of the videos I own. I discovered exercises "on demand" through my cable company. There were tons of different types of exercises literally at my fingertips --- from various versions of Walk Away the Pounds to kick boxing to pilates and yoga and more! Further, the lengths of time varied as well. Some were 10 minutes long while others were as much as 40. Sometimes, even if you can't exercise for long, getting through a 10 minute segment from beginning to end gives you a sense of accomplishment. I found that when I quit a 40 min workout after 10 min, I felt like a failure. So I started small by completing a 10 min workout and then worked my way up to the 40 min segments. I felt like a success regardless of which level I was on and that was very motivating to me. What I also like is that the exercises available on demand change frequently. Hope this helps!

Welcome! I agree! Ya gotta find something you like and then do it. I was not the exercising kind when I restarted. ICK! I was also no "there" mentally. Getting food and water down was all I could do. Once I had that under my belt I started exercising. It's made a world of difference in my attitude and well being.

                  You can do it!
