  • Good Friday morning

Well, it's raining here in Atlanta! That's good. This morning my daughter and I discussed created atmospheres...Above the rain is a sun that is still shining...beautiful blue skies and yet down here where we live, it's raining pretty good and will all day long.
In our house in the mornings, we put on music that is inspirational. It helps us set the inner tone for our day, it's an atmosphere we build. We are very careful what music we put on and the language used in the songs, especially around our 15 yr old...Nothing negative, degrading, rebellious, or distructive, no matter how cool the tune or the band, or how hot they are...We control what we allow into our brains. ALL OF US DO THIS.

I watch over my whole way of life like that...I am easily inspired and respond emotionally based on my levels of energy stress and or tiredness.
I come here to set my tone and attitude, and atmosphere for my day. I was out the door at 6:20 this morning and I controlled the sounds in the car and i picked a motivating topic to introduce to my daugher, to get her thinking in the right direction...(I even will talk to myself in the car on the way home and create atmosphere, and I TELL MYSELF HOW TO THINK ALL THE TIME) We talked about climbing over the mountain of challenge she faces tonight with a Halloween lock-in at our church...Candies, pizzas, cookies, crap, crap, crappp or the goooood stuff as she pointed out...but for us, it's the bad stuff...nothing to mess with while on a ketogenic diet!!! could be disaster, in just one bite! A sobering moment!

What kind of a tone, or atmosphere are you going to create and surround yourself with today...Watch out if you are tired, you will be pulled to the lowest, levels potentially. Watch out if you are too busy to create anything...Watch out if you don't give a rip!!! Move your feelings aside, and reach for your goals and dreams, look out at the dates and plans you have shared here...Stick to the basics, they can be a very strong safety net, or rope...Set a positive tone, a "can do" attitude...but a smile on your face and live our new way of life!!!!

Atmosphere around us.... I like that.

IT'S FRIDAY! The rain has finally moved on... I'm happy! Lots of flooding going in the surrounding towns. We needed the rain, but not all at once.

Halloween party tonight. I'm debating going.. I totally understand how C feels. I need to go to the store, bring kids here and there and one kid is sick. ACK! Full speed ahead... living life!

      Re: Good Friday morning

Wow, Friday, already? Where did the week go?

I'm pretty swamped at work, right now, and there just aren't enough hours in the day. I work in the IT division of a wonderful non-profit agency. We're preparing for the deployment of a new wide area network system to all of our 52 sites around the world. Since we're moving from a Novell system to all Microsoft, (and I've always worked in Novell offices) I've much to learn. So, with the exception of a few minutes on ADBB, here and there, when I'm not busy doing all my normal work, I'm trying to study and learn all I can about the new system that we'll be installing. So, the days are flying by!

Of course, when we start the actual deployment, it's going to be a real, REAL!, challenge for me to stay on plan. Traveling all over the U.S., Europe, and the Pacific, sometimes turns eating properly into a real ordeal. Trust me, I have yet to find one of the "free continental breakfasts" that has anything that I'm allowed to eat!

So, I guess I'd better get back to what I'm supposed to be doing. I don't know if I'll get it all done, or not, but I'm just going to attack each task one at a time and do my best before moving on.

      Have a Happy Friday, STACers!
      -Chris

Today is a good day! I am closing a door, waiting for one to open. I turned in my 2 week notice at work! Happy that I start vacation this Sunday! WOOHOO

Yesterday, not so good... I BROKE MY TOE!!! Now how am I suppose to work out???? I know I can still do my crunches and maybe, maybe my stability ball pushups...but no more treadmill

So, what exercises does everyone do that does not require walking or standing too long? I need ideas so I can continue some type of exercises. HELP!!! STACers to the rescue, please

Other than that disaster, I have another issue but will start my own post... do not want to hijack the check in!

        Have a great day everyone

          Happy FRIDAY!

My way of clearing my mind/getting ready for the day is my 25 min. drive to work. (Well it used to be--but now it's pitch black and I am on edge the whole way. I hit a deer last year, around this time, and it caused $2000 in damages, and I was without a car for a month. So I am very cautious and alert while driving...) ANYWAY, when it was still light out, I'd listen to music, stare at the beautiful sunrise coming over the mountains, and just sort of meditate I guess, on how lucky I am, and on my happiness. I don't carpool, simply so I can be alone in my thoughts, and I have freedom to leave when I want to.

I'm getting ready for the Christmas concerts...yesterday I practiced the piano for about 2 hours. Today I will be practicing that long, and probably more. I am having a K-5 concert, and a separate 6-12. Not only am I obviously directing, planning, and overseeing the concert, I'm accompanying for about 15 different songs, on piano and guitar. So I have a lot of music to learn. I think the students will be ready--we've really been working hard and learning a lot.

OK well that's my Friday in a nutshell. Going to the gym after work, but NO weight lifting as I think I'm turning into the Incredible Hulk.

It's so funny that you begin the day discussing atmospheres, as this is how I ended my day yesterday. Watching a program on the discovery channel that discussed the possibility of IO...one of the moons of Jupiter...and the gigantic volcanoes erupting over the entirty of this particular moon, which scientists believe is creating an actual atmosphere there (although not as advanced as our own). They are using it to study theories of how the atmosphere was created on our planet. Which I learned is constantly being renewed...

But I like the interesting perspective you take on creating your own atmosphere and keeping it positive. So often we are emotionally affected by the streaming images barraging us every day and don't even realize it! Terrific goal to keep in mind! Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestions Jess and Rachel ... but I do not have access to a bike and cannot afford to buy one right now with the move coming up in 2 weeks!

Juli, you look fabulous. Keep up the good work!

                  Anyone else have exercise suggestions?

                    Re: Good Friday morning

Stickin--have you done pilates? There are a TON of exercises that are floor-based, and you can REALLY work your core. I would also suggest using resistance bands for arms and legs--these can be floor-based exercises too. Can you walk on the toe? IF you can, maybe you can try going for short, easy walks. That way you're keeping active, but not dangerously so.

                      Juli,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a Pilates DVD somewhere in a box 120 miles away from me Once I move, then I can start it. I can walk, but it hurts too much... may start slow walks as soon as it stops hurting so much! Until it starts to feel better I will keep doing my strength training (even if I have to sit), crunches and the stability ball pushups... maybe some leg stretches. Man, I hope this gets better soon... moving with a bum toe is gonna be the pits!!!

I used canned goods as weights before hubby surprised me with a brand new pair I agree, pilates is good. Try a few moves... look some up on the internet if you need. Anything upper body. you can even sit in a chair and do leg raises and arm raises.. anything to get the blood pumping and heart rate going

                            Hi everyone!

Well, the water weight i gained in my leap off the wagon is now all gone. Boy, my pants are loose! yay!

Had more bloodwork done today to see if I do have hypothyroid problems. If so, then that might help me lose the weight too.

Not feeling the greatest today though, not sure why. really really really tired. Didn't help that I bought a cobb salad for lunch and they apparantly gave me all the extra bacon grease! It's all congealed on top of the bacon so the bacon looks WHITE! EW! I mean, I love me some bacon, but really now.

I bought a pot roast and some cauliflower and am going to make cauliflower au gratin tomorrow I think.

Trader Joe's opened by me today, too. More food to choose from, hopefully!
