  • Time Change Sunday

I've been up a long time, with this time change sunday, I am rested and rarin to go!
I have been around the boards...Looking to see what new challenges are appearing for Nov. Funny in the beginning I was just here to read and keep up, now that most of us are settled in routines and organized, we need to look for things to keep us going, and keep us motivated and fresh and on our toes...
The holidays are coming, the holidays are coming, oneth by Thanksgiving, two th by Christmas...I feel like Paul Revere...the holidays are coming!!!!

What if we looked at the holidays as if they were the "red coats"...For those who do not have a clue what i am saying, Paul Revere was a big guy in the beginning of the Revolutionary War, and he announced the coming of the Britsh into the New England area...He rode his horse and announced their arrival.. This is a classic tale of our american history.

Make Sunday a reflection day, and think about where you are, what you can do this next month to take it up a level. How to you transition from short term ideals to long term lifestyle and way of life?
What do you have to do to be here on Jan 1, and be thinner to boot!

We are on the edge of all h*** breaking loose and many experienced the beginnings this last week at work as the candy came out early and Halloween is to be upon us in two more days...the isles at many department stores are already full of Christmas season items...
    It's HERE!!!!
Join a challenge...Create your own challenge and post it.
We will finish up on the 5pounds by Halloween and weigh in Wed...
Join a challenge, challenge yourself...find something amazing to acheive and go for it...Make it a big deal, a prime point in your month.
    Start visualizing yourself on Dec1.
Put indoor exercise equipment on your wish list for Christmas. I sat on a bunch of new stuff at the sports store yesterday.
Look at garage sales for used equipement, there are total gyms, bowflexes and stationary bikes out there, and ellipticals. Scoop em up to create year round options for your exercise, because ya'll are ALL GONNA BE HERE NEXT YR, RIGHT????? or is this just a quick fix diet for you??? If so, we might see you back here later, with more weight tacked on...

FOR MANY, THE ENEMY IS APPROACHING, AND THE CALL OR ORDER IS HERE! GET YOUR WAR PLANS OUT, YOUR WAR PAINT ON, YOU'VE BEEN IN TRAINING, YOU'VE BEEN MAKING IT HAPPEN...WELL FOR SOME OUR HARDEST TIME OF THE YEAR HAS ARRIVED!

    You are so inspirational!! God bless ya, Jess, to know your calling and use it! Thanks! {{{Jess}}}

Gotta have a plan! A plan. One that works. For me, H'ween is over. We did the church thing and that's the biggie. We don't have many smaller kids in the neighborhood and the few that we have did the church thing too. I can put the kids' candy in the cookie jar - out of site, out of mind. Now I need to concentrate on T'giving and planning a menu and an exercise challenge for November.

I have gotten so many compliments in the past week.. like you, everyone wants to know what I'm doing. I had a friend ask me last night in a whisper "is it ATkins??" LOLOL yes, it is.. and it's OKAY to say it.

Off to get ready for Church..

      Re: Time Change Sunday

Good morning, Jess -- and everyone!

Yes, it is time change Sunday, but my body can't quite get with it, yet. I've been saying that I'm looking forward to the time change, because I'm tired of getting up in the dark. So, what did I do this morning? I got up in the dark, of course!

Jess, I love your "war paint" advice. I'm putting it on as I type, right this very minute!

By the way, I'd like to ask all you STACers for a favor. If you don't normally hang around the main forum, please go there today and look at my post "Help me help a friend." Since we've all been down this road in the past, I'm sure that each of us has found various "additional benefits" (other than weightloss) of being on the Atkins programs. Jeff is a very dear friend of mine, and although he's only 42 years old, I worry, so much, about even the near term effects of his various health problems; let alone the long term ones. If you could help me convince him to give Atkins a try, I'd be very appreciative. His biggest obstacle is that he's a very picky, and rather peculiar, eater. He absolutely abhors salads, for example. It goes without saying that, like so many of us, it's the carb laden foods -- bread, potatoes, rice, snack foods -- that most appeal to him. I'm trying to make him realize that his health is a lot more important than the fleeting moments of the tastes of those foods.

This time change I adore. The one in the spring? Notsomuch!

Challengewise, I'm maxed out! I am a member of two as it is. I will cheer on everyone else as you all move towards your goals, though!

          Chris-- I read that thread, but I can't think of any way to make that horse go to water. Maybe something will hit me later. You're an awesome friend! {{{Chris}}}

Thanks, Jamie -- I'll admit it, few things are more important to me than my friends (a group of which I certainly count you as a member, btw!).

Anyway, I've been trying, for quite some time, to get Jeff to give Atkins a try. As we've all experienced, he usually just listens, gives his objections, and changes the subject. This morning, however, I had an email from him which said, simply, "Okay, tell me where to go online to find the carb counts for vegetables." I was thrilled! So, I sent him several links, along with scads of advice, and told him that I was going to post that thread on the main forum, and for him to check it out, later. I think I may finally be getting through! That's why I was hoping for a bit of additional encouragement from some of the experienced members. So, I'll greatly appreciate anything that any of you good folks can add. If we're successful, we could literally be saving a human life, here!!!

              Re: Time Change Sunday

Alright, so the weekend is almost over. I skipped the Halloween party in fear of drinking. My friends and I took our kids to Boo at the Zoo in town, then went to some haunted houses. It felt great getting up without the hangover OR the guilt! The best part is that Sunday is my weigh day and I've dropped another 2 pounds. Today is my son's birthday party and I'm not in fear of the cake. I have sweets galore around the house due to my son and the of course my dh the bigger baby! I've already got the Holidays planned out. A variety of turkey, deviled eggs, and veggies will be on my plate. Of course along with my water. I'm not stopping now. There is no way. I look better, and I feel like I should have been feeling since I was 16 years old. I actually feel healthy. At the gym, I fit in. I'm doing just as much cardio as that little 21 year old 2 elliptical machines down from me. What is funny is that when I get off the elliptical I walk upstairs and do the treadmill!!! Gotta get rid of this "junk in my trunk"! I hope everyone has a great week, and I will keep closer to the boards than I have been. Life is hectic sometimes!!!

                Re: Time Change Sunday

Hey Chris, I posted in that thread. I'd also like to point you to my journal. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=32796

I talk openly about the struggles.. and highs and low.. the feelings.. and when I discover new things I post it. Like.. finding my lap again! or being able to tighen the laces on my shoes. Those little things really do mean a lot and I think lots of times people overlook them. I try to post those things so that others reading it will notice the minute changes that take place. Atkins is not always easy... real life gets in the way and we still have struggles to overcome. You know that line we hear "if I were only thin, then my whole life would be wonderful." HA! Thin people have problems too. Weight coming off is a good thing, but there is so much more to us than the weight. My journal is all about working through those layers we have that brought us to the point where we needed Atkins in the first place.

Best of luck to your friend.

Morning all! Feeling good this morning, I topped the scales at... 230. That's 50.5 pounds down! Downright amazing when you think about it. Trying to figure a good way to celebrate... think maybe I'll go get a nice steak and do some jicama fries or something to go with it. I'm taking some during pictures so that when I finally gt close to my goal I'll be brave enough to post them . So... keep strong. It really is easier over time, and the results frankly speak for themself.

Ptan--50 lb. down is AMAZING! You must be so proud!

As for this daylight savings time...I didn't really make the most of it. Went to bed relatively early. Got up relatively early. I'm turning into an old fogie. Next thing you know, I'll be one of those old Polish ladies that wakes up at 4am to sweep the front porch.

Well I am excited for the lose 5lb. before Halloween! Um, wait, Jess--was that just a weight loss challenge or a no-weigh challenge too? I've been weighing every week. Since the challenge started, I've lost 11.5 lb. I will weigh in on Wed Nov 1st and let you know the grand total.

I'm not nervous about the holidays--the focus of my Thanksgiving and Christmas has always been about the meat--those were the two days of the year my mom actually went through the pain of making a turkey! Turkey turkey, yum yum yum! The only thing I'll miss about Christmas are the Christmas cookies--but hey, I don't need them, and I'm not craving them, and there's so much more out there I can eat that my body will actually thank me for.

Chris, I will check out the thread and see if I have any words of wisdom (well ok, just words, sometimes I'm not very wise ) for your friend.

                        Have a great sunday!
