  • X pounds by November 30th challenge?

Well STACers, how about it? Shall we have another month long challenge in STAC? I was thinking either an X pounds by November 30th or another 5 pounds by Nov. 30th challenge.

The way I look at it, thanksgiving is at the end of the month, so maybe knowing there's a weigh-in coming up will help people keep the potatoes off of their plates. :P

We could also, with Cleo's latest post in mind, make it a non weight goal. Or everyone could make their own goal. Or restrict it to reasonable goals that are likely to be attainable - no more than 5 pounds, perhaps?

Thanks! I hadn't given much thought to a loss goal in November. I"ll add it to my siggy! I'm seriously thinking of not weighing at all in November! That way I won't have that pressure on myself if the scale wobbles and my focus will be more like "don't cheat, you have to weigh in at the end of the month!" LOL Oh those voices in my head!

Yeah, i definitely need a challenge to get me through this month!!! You are right though... in light of Cleo's email this morning maybe we needn't place a weight number on it... but what shall we do then...

Thoughts? Cleo? Ideas??? I do need this... between moving and Thanksgiving it is prime time for needing to stay strong...

Re: X pounds by November 30th challenge?

Taps my chin and thinks, I would like to lose inches this month. Weighing right now doesn't bother me (it actually keeps me on track sorta) but i am not concerned about the number on the scale, what i want to see is results. I am already seeing it in the bloated look going away, my face is thinner, and i feel good. This will force me to get my exercising done, because the more i exercise the better i will look and the more inches will come off. My inch measuring day is coming up tomorrow, so i will better be able to decide what i want to see.

So my goal for November will be to lose inches. i am not sure i will even set a inches loss thing, but just to have less inches on me at the end of November than i do now. Perhaps even go down a size of clothes.

Hope that makes sense. But i will put in for 10 lbs this month with a hope for 15 or even 20 lol.

Good thinking, Sher. I'm going for ten this month only because I lost 9 in the last challenge and that wasn't even a month's time. I had focus and determination. I want that again. I may not get it...but that IS what I want to happen I did the same with my exercise challenges. I saw how many I could realistically do and then added to that. Hoping to make me push forward just a little bit more. I'm learning to REACH for goals.. not always having to ACHIEVE them .. and that still makes me a winner

Because you asked my thoughts, I'm going to just throw out an idea. It's a little bit cheeky, but that's the humor of it.

It doesn't focus on an end result but on making positive change. Take, leave it, no worries! Maybe it's a challenge for the future.

Want Better Habits? Well, Up Yours!
                That's right!

How about a challenge where we don't focus on the numbers, but on making some positive changes in our lives incrementally?

This is a challenge, where, for, the next month you are going to work on improving habits and "up your" amount of time or energy spent doing them.

You'll set a goal, and you'll achieve that goal. One step at a time. One month at a time.

Drinking only 12 ounces of water a day and the rest is coffee? Up Your water!

Doing no exercise at all, or need to increase the intensity? Up your fitness!

Need to work on keeping your food recorded in fitday or in your journal and being responsible to others? Up your accountability!

Anything else you need to work on, improve upon, or make better? Up your committment!

So what do you say, gang?

up yours for a great 2006!

                Rules? Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Sign in and tell us what you plan to work on for January. Remember, it's not always going to be easy to make even the wee changes, so don't think huge. Think small. Remember, a habit takes 21 days to cement... let's do it!

Check in with your goal for the month. Be accountable. During the course of, and at the end of the month, report how you've done. It's that easy. Making the conscious decision to change? Not so easy... but each small change we make, complied over time, makes for a whole lotta changes come a year from now. Heck! Even 6 months from now. And maybe even just a month from today.

So Up Yours! for better health!

No matter what you guys decide, it will be great! I just know it.

I'm going to pledge to exercise for 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week through the end of November!

I can't set a weight goal. It would totally mess me up.

Don't want to totally mess you up! the numbers are ok for me, because I know I don't control when my body sheds weight...I control the things I do, like upping the exercise of adding variety to exercise or stepping back from my plate when satisfied.

It's interesting what you wrote, I live at full throttle and wonder where I could improve? I am sure that sounds like I have a great big head, but truthfully, I am going for it every day...Oh I know what and where I can up my improvement, in trying new receipes.. Can't exercise harder, can't drink more water, can't eat much less and survive...But I can research and improve my menu!!! I guess wrestling around here changed my impressions...
Going for the big 5 pounds, hoping for 10... will take any I can get!!!!
