    Re: Sunday Check in

It's so nice to come here and see everyone posting POSITIVE things about their lives and focusing on good things and not having a pity poor me party!

My family and I watched a show in MTV called Real Life.. Obesity - and it followed some people around who are obese. There was a woman 500+ pounds, I think, who was really suffering and ended up having gastric bypass. The kids were really wide eyed watching this whole show. It was an eye opener about how easily you can let things get out of hand and the way you can end up if you do not have good habits. We talked a lot about each person's plight during the commercials.

One guy had decided he was having gastric bypass and didn't need to start watching foods or limiting things - his gastric bypass was going to do all that for him!

HUH? What got you where you are today? It wasn't NOT eating and exercising. It was emotional eating and not exercising and boredom eating, etc. Surgery is not going to "cure" that.

Sure left my kids with lots to think about. I love shows like that.

I know someone who got a lapband and didn't change their eating habits too. Kind of sad really...

And it is possible go regain or gain weight even after having surgery or the lap-band. I'm so glad I'm working thru these issues now and hopefully they will not continue to cause me grief the rest of my life

You may mean me-I'm not sure. I have major things going on that I havne't posted, but perhaps it's bleeding through as negative in my attitude. I try to stay away (or fake it) when I'm feeling blue, so my apologies if it's me. I love this place and sure don't want to ruin it.

              Re: Sunday Check in

Ok, I'm checkin in late on this Sunday. Just got back from out of town. I've made another change! Over the weekend I overcame a baby shower and pizza. I did allow myself a few hot wings though. I left my snack bag at the house! I just felt so wonderful and helped out with everything when I used to just want to sit in a chair and watch everyone else do it. My sister (the baby shower for her daughter) is a beautician, and I told her I needed a change to go with my new shaping body and lifestyle. So I went from my bright blonde hair and got brown lowlights. It is such a change for me, but isn't everything in my life right now! I will be posting some before and during pics probably at the end of this week. Have a great week everyone!

Babs, I'm sure nobody meant you or anyone in particular - I don't think anyone is overly negative in STAC or on ADBB in general. I think she just meant to say that it's so great that people are so positive on this board and thread. I can't speak for her, but I myself have never noticed you being too negative or anything. Don't think anything is directed at you!

Oh, thanks knicknack. You're so sweet. I know I need to check myself periodically. Although maybe not directed at me, made me realize she's right on, and in a good way. I thought I could have appeared that way and needed to You all are the absolute best.

Mean you what? LOL Never seen you with a negative attitude

We all have bad days. And by all means, let us know! Getting support is what this place is about. But it's nice to read a thread where everyone is commenting on good things from changing their eating habits instead of moaning and groaning and counting down the days until they can "eat normal again". I was the worst to hate exercise..it seemed like such a chore. NOW? I"m loving it! Amazing!

You know, Babs, I remember, many years ago, watching The Bill Cosby show, thinking if only life could always be as nice, positive, and pleasant, as it is on that show. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work that way. Sometimes it's difficult and depressing, and just about gets us down. I think most of us, here, are well aware of that fact; so when those times come along, please don't hesitate to share them with us. Talking out problems and issues with people who care can be of tremendous help. Good happenings do make us happy, but it's not realistic to think life's always wonderful. Let us be there for you when you need us the most!

                        Re: Sunday Check in

Thanks Rachel, knicknack and Chris, I should know by now that's how it is around here because I would want to know what's going on with everyone. I only thought I had done my share of complaining about things and could have appeared to pity myself.

Rachel, it took me a while to get through to my husband that we were not going to be eating boxed macaroni and cheese any more. Once I told him we could make it out of cauliflower, and that we can find lots of substitute foods like the taco bake or low carb pizza, now he's perfectly fine knowing he won't do without.
