Hi everyone! This is my second time doing Atkins.
Let me tell you a bit about myself.
I'm 47 female, single and live in South Florida. My son (19 years old) just moved out of the house. He is 3 hours away from here so I dont have to worry about keeping food for him. I have made my kitchen strictly Atkins friendly. So when I get that urge to cheat, at least there is nothing here to cheat with. I'd have to actually get dressed and go somewhere and I HATE going out of my house unless I have to.
I need to tell you about my first go around with Atkins. I was very strict. Never cheated in 7 months! I mean NEVER! I lost 20 pounds the first 2 months and never lost another pound. I joined
then and got some great advice but nothing seemed to work for me. Then along came hurricane Frances and I almost lost my mind (seriously) and went off this WOE.
Before I got back on this plan (October 1, 2006) I ate anything I wanted. I began to hate thinking "OK now, whats for lunch" and "Whats for dinner" every day. (on this WOE I always knew what my meals were going to be). Needless to say, I gained most of the weight back.
I started again and followed it strictly eating pretty much the same stuff I did last time. I lost 6 pounds during the first 2 weeks and again stopped losing. I continued eating on plan but I wasnt happy with the results. If I didnt do something NOW I'd end up not losing just like the last time. I knew there had to be an answer. I just had to find it. I searched the web for hours and hours. Nothing new. Then I came back home to
and there was a post about caffeine! I knew all about it ... that it causes blood sugar to go crazy causing craving, ect. That didnt happen with me. But that post got me to thinking ...
I didnt drink THAT much coffee. About 12 oz throughout the day. And 4 oz of that was a mix of decaf and regular. I never craved coffee. It was just something soothing. Good memories. Warm memories. Comforting memories. Something to do when the gals and I sit around at work.
I have very little sense of smell so it wasnt the SMELL. Just a habit I guess.
Soooooo I took the big leap and switched to decaf! I now bring a thermos of decaf coffee to work. And make decaf in the evening.
Its hard to explain, but I feel "cleaner". My head is clearer. I can drink it late at night if I want.
Since I switched to decaf I have lost THREE pounds!!
And to celebrate (my "treat") I am going to start posting on this board again.
JUST SAY NO -- TO CAFFEINE!!!!
I HAVE CONTROL!!!! I HAVE THE POWER!!!!!
