  • Goals, Vision, Direction! It all helps!!!

Today is day 99. IF I HAD NOT SET A GOAL DATE of day 100, this day and tomorrow would just slip by, there would be nothing to celebrate and I need celebrations they motivate me...
BUT, I sat down early in this program and asked myself what I really wanted, besides weight loss, and it was TO BE HERE on day 30 (1month) day 100, Jan1,07, Mar 14,07 and Aug1,07... Since writing those dates down, I have visited them consistently. They are like these 4 legs of the journey for year 1...on my new way of life. Tomorrow leg one will be here. 100 days. If I had not set it as a goal, I would be living it like any other day...but to be able to say I have been on this plan for 100 days, is incredible and it adds credibility to my life. It boosts self confidence and shows me my self control...All of that is like a gift, you can't buy at Wal-Mart, but you EARN as you make promises and keep them! I wanted to arrive on day 100 fully committed, organized, in control of my eating and exercising and I am there! I am walking in what i wanted them most...Because I have these abilities, I can sustain my weight loss, and actually loose more. It's a day to day thing...I have earned this place of control and focus...

And tomorrow I won't drop off the face of the earth, just because I made it today 100, NOOOOO I set the next goal and will continue to move forward...

So, when you think about the challenge many of us are on for Nov...Start planning now for Dec...and then plan for Jan...
So you always have new levels of direction to cling to...

When I hit March 14th, I will turn 50, I will be in a very different place than I am today...On that day, I will be able to fathom Aug.1... I will be able to consider new goals for the fall of 07, which is a year from now.

I need direction, I need goals to focus on...I need "something to shoot for" I need specifics in my life, not generalities I need to feel successful, and like I am achieving in my life, when I do, I cling to and love the vehicle that got me there, ATKINS WAY OF LIFE!!!

Congrats a day early! You are such an inspiration. You have taught me so much in these past months. I'm so glad we both stumbled onto the same board about the same time. YOU ROCK!!! I'm so excited to watch and share with you in your journey.

Jess, reaching that goal is fantastic! I'm declaring tomorrow a party day in celebration of OJ's first 100 days!

Your words are so meaningful -- and filled with truth. I once remarked to a dear friend that I wanted to get back to my goal weight, but, based on past experience, I knew that it would take a least a year. Her response was, "Well the year will pass either way -- what do you want to do with it?"

Isn't that the truth? Much like your goals, Jess, those days, weeks, and months will pass, and we can choose to do either as we've been doing, or make each of them one more step toward being where we want to be.

Thank you for a very thought provoking post -- and, again, congrats on the big goal! We all appreciate you, so very much.

congrats a day early. I'm so glad you made being on Atkins date goals and not pounds lost by date goals becasue those goals can cause lots of fewelings of failure pressure and frustration and the scales don't cooperate with the goal dates.
