  • Monday check in, YOU CAN DO IT

    Good monday morning STACers..

I hope all is well in STAC land...That you had an abundant weekend, full of goodness. We sure did! Our trip up Stone Mtn got called of due to weather...But Caitlin made huge strides in exercise...She jogged .6 tenths of a mile without stopping on Sat and then on Sunday jogged the WHOLE 2.2 mi Mulberry trail and I was so darn proud I started telling strangers about her accomplishment.
This morning in the car I said, "Your self respect is growing"...She thought abou it and agreed...She did something hard, she completed it, and she felt good about her efforts...The harder it is the more respect ourselves when we do it.
So, stick to the plan today, because the you will gain self respect. Drink the water, no short cuts, and you will gain self respect. Take your exercise plan a few more steps, minutes or miles, and you will gain more self respect.
Eat within the plans for where you are, induction, stay clean! OWL, stop when satisfied...YOU CAN DO IT.

        Hiya folks!

I love that, Jess - it's so true. Self-respect is probably the root of all of our binging I bet. And you're right, the harder the accomplishment is, the more we feel good about ourselves!

I walked 8 miles when i was on my trip - the town was 1 mile away. So 4 days of that and we have 8 miles! I plan to get to the gym 3 times this week, even if it's just to walk a mile. I'm going to make my little itty bitty 30 miles in november goal! I'm already well on my way towards the X challenge too! So, I'm feeling pretty darned skippy today too!

I Prepared some meals over the weekend and froze them to help me get through some of this temptation I'm still battling. But I'm still clean.

Congrats on being clean Gem! I love the way you put that, but it's so true. :P Frozen pre-prepared meals are one of the best ways to keep on the straight and narrow, I find.

Re: Monday check in, YOU CAN DO IT

              Hello All!
Once again, Jess has great words of wisdom! I totally agree...I think that is why I have such high standards for my students...one day they were frustrated and said "I can't do this, I can't play this, it's too hard." And I said, yes you can, I would not have you do something I didn't think you could accomplish. And they replied "can't we do something easier?" and I replied, NO because you are all intelligent and talented, and I respect you more than that, just giving you something easy and something you don't have to work at. They thought about it for a minute...and I think they got it--that I do respect them and their abilities, but I want them to challenge themselves.

Anyway...I'm having a super day--checked the board and it turns out I'm member of the day! I'm so excited! This totally made my day, no joke. I'm also looking forward to boot camp class tonight, but I'm gonna add some miles on the treadmill after school...I'm going to try running 2. I'll let you know if I succeed or not!

Re: Monday check in, YOU CAN DO IT

                Hi everyone!

''The harder it is, the more we respect ourselves when we do it.''

This is true for me too. Now that I am exercising more (walking on my treadmill and farther in parking lots), I do not have any desire to ruin my lifetime commitment to lose and keep my weight off. The way of life isn't that hard for me as long as I'm prepared, keep the wrong foods out of the house, and can ignore those around me who tell me to eat lots of bad carb foods. So the time I put into exercise is good for me in more ways than one.

I'm still stalled, probably from my blood pressure meds, but I'm hanging in there with that. I won't give up, that's for sure. Jess, like you told me yesterday, I'm a pound away from a 20 pound loss. When I look at it that way, that's pretty darn good.

                    Happy Monday STACers!

Go Caitlin!!!! That is great news Jess! I'm glad she, with your help of course, is turning her life around while she's young. That is awesome!

Things are going great here. I conquered eating out and eating at a relative's home this weekend! I'm taking it a day and a pound at a time, but so far so good.

I hope everyone has a great day and a great week!!!!

Hi everyone. Congrats on the weekend successes and monday mayhems. One thing self-respect does also is give you confidence. To me its all a trickle down effect, you have self-respect you have greater confidence, the greater confidence you have the more apt you are to try things etc etc. Great post Jess.

Juli congrats on being Member of the Day, its well deserved!!!

I made it through the weekend by working out twice on Saturday as well as taking my exercise up a notch to doing intervals instead of just straight level 1 on the devil machine. I also moved to doing 30 minutes on the devil machine from 25, so i feel like i have made a big step!

I refocused this weekend and will keep reinforcing it throughout the week. So i am psyched!!

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well!
