Hey everybody, I wanted to post here because I know everyon in here has been in a familiar situation that I am in now. I was doing atkins, extended induction, had lost about 72 pounds, and was just doing soooo awesome. Well back in August, I was dating this girl who liked to go out to eat everytime I went to see her, and one time we went to pizza hut, and its been all downhill ever since then. I've tried to get back on track, but thought that atkins wasnt for me, but I know with all my heart that it is...its the only thing that has ever really worked for me. I tried low cals....omg that sucked. I think where I went wrong, before the cheat, is that I stayed on induction for too long. Got bored. And every time I try to get bac on track , i think i push way too hard, I only have about 70 pounds to lose now!!! Please help me you guys! I have put in little commitment, but I am soooo ready to stick it out for ever because I have seen both sides...this WOE, and just eating junk.....Its like choosing heaven or **** almost.

    Re: Need help

Also, I was wondering if someone would help me set up a reward system? I want to reward myself while doing this, you know, non-foods! Like clothes, shoes, stuff like that...maybe someone could help me with that...

      Re: Need help

Well the first reward i would recommend would be not to beat yourself up. Start maintaining a list of positives to get you through those times when you feel yourself slipping. I would also have a focus on NOT pushing yourself too hard. This is one of my past biggest mistakes, i always pushed and always fell off. So this time around though i have a want to be in better shape by May for my trip to Jamaica, i don't have set goals and time limits.

What many people do is set weightloss goals without timelimits. Say for every 5 lbs or week they don't cheat, or exercise gets in.

It all depends on what your motivation is and/or what your struggles are. As well as what you like that could be an award for you. I would write out a list of things you really enjoy that you want, don't get or get to do often enough and use those as your rewards.

Good luck, you can do this all iit requires is a little determination, a lot of persistance and planning for those times when it gets hard and becomes a struggle. Planning is a great thing to get so down pat that it becomes automatic.
May you all be losers, Sher

        Re: Need help

Try looking into possible future scenarios...
a little ways into Atkins, you will start losing inches, which means you'll need smaller clothing. The yellow swimsuit in my siggy represented a gift for reaching a minigoal this past summer. (It'll be an itsy-bitsy-teensy-weensy bikini when I get to goal).

You should also stand to feel better, happier and more energetic.

Your daiting success may improve, too, (but I'd avoid pizza hut if I were you, unless you can stay at the salad bar or just eat the pizza toppings.)

You can put a before picture on fridges and bathroom mirrors to remind you of what the alternate not too distant future (the continue eating the way that got you fat way) holds, and realize if allowed to continue weight, health and other problems can quickly add up to misery.

There are lots of threads that offer reward and self-motivation ideas and challenges with rewards at the end.
Just stay close to the board, and post often.

        Wishing you the best success!

Hey1...Please help, ok I'll help. When are you starting, tomorrow morning? What will you be eating? Plan to drink at the least 64 oz of water, and what kind of mandatory exercise will you be starting off with.
Do you have a copy of the book, you can review induction, and then maybe you should go right to OWL, and get on the rungs.
Shoot for a day, A week, and then getting through a month.
You need to get going, and shop, and cook and make it happen...
YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO, you have been a great success here!!!! 72 pounds is a LOT OF WEIGHT.
You might check in with the 14 day induction forum and pick up pointers there.
Reward yourself, by getting into ketosis...and then enjoy those benefits...
So, what do you think about this?

            MONEY
pay yourself in a fund and set a high goal for when you can spend it if cheating is your down fall say after 100 days cheat free I can spend it on any thing I want and pay yourself in a small bank account $5 aday. if pounds are you big thing use them if exersing is your big thing us it That way you can plan and plan how you going to spend it and you can change your mind a lot during those 100 days/ pounds/ whatever. if you cheat take the money out for that day so their is cost if you don't do it right too.

              Re: Need help

I am starting today! I know what I need to do. Im going to go back to what was working. I know I am going to excercise pretty hard(weights 3 times a week, and cardio 5 times a week) but for the first few days, I am going to take it easy, untill I get into ketosis. I have decided that since I feel good on low carbs, that I am going to do this thing for life, and keep my carbs under 50 for life, of course I know I have to stay under 20 for induction. As for the rewards system, I think 5 dollars for every pound is a great way to go! Absolutly awesome, and maybe when I get to goal, which will give me quite a bit of money, I will take that money and buy a new wardrobe, because I know I am going to need it. Thanks, I am going to post on here everyday, I have commited to going to bed around 11 every night and waking up at 6 in the mourning. I have been thinking about buying my own computer for my room, but I don't know, they are kinda pricy, but it would be a good investment. I am going to post on here every single day from now on.

                Re: Need help

Hi I just wanted to add that while your cleansing your body do the same for your house if possible get rid of your favorite goodies if there are other people living in your house I'm sure they like somethings you dont so ask them to only keep goodies in the house that you really dont like that much if you had kids and ice cream ect... is a problem for you just dont keep it in the house alot of kids like going out for ice cream better anyway do that with goodies it is healthier for everyone one if they only have it once in awhile so make it an outing and not just a trip to the fridge it will help you not to be tempted. If you have kids in the house have someone else taking them on thier goodie outings.
