    Re: I Screwed up

With an illness to fight you need to look after your diet MORE THAN EVER to make sure you have the strength to get through it. I don't know where you live but isn't there a board member near to you that you could buddy up with and maybe meet or chat on the phone?

What do you need that we can give? We're all willing to listen, so vent, girl! Tell us what you think of your ex husband, get that off your chest and don't hold back. He's not the only fish in the sea (cliche but true) but I do understand you could do with him around now you have an illness to cope with.

You've been such an inspiration to me and I know to many others. I wish I could give something back.

          Re: I Screwed up

Hi Sarah, I haven't met you yet, so it's nice to meet you now. I had read one of your other posts where you had said you're not feeling well. I wanted to say then that I hoped you are feeling ok. I've always admired your pictures, especially of the one where you are running. And now that you are picking yourself up and posting here, I'll say it reminds me of how, years ago when I was able to run, I was on a cross country team. The race was held around a country club golf course. I came running down the gravel road and slipped, fell, and scraped up my leg. I layed there in pain *knowing* I couldn't get up. Then out of nowhere, a man came running over and yelled, "Get up!!! Get up!!! You're ok!!! You're OK! Keep running the race! Go! Go!!!" That man was the coach from the other team. If he had not been there to help me, I would have quit. It made me realize how we need each other in life, that sometimes we could do it ourselves, but with encouragement, it's much easier. Keep going! By the way, I finished last, but I finished. Hope to see you around! Babs

Just wanted to drop in and give you some hugging Sarah, you have alot on your plate right now. To have the tumor and the meds going on, I didn't know about you and your husband splitting more added heartache that you just don't need. You know how people here feel about you, take a moment and let that sink in, you need some positive vibes coming your way and you can get them here. Hang in there!

              Re: I Screwed up

              Hiya Sarah!

First off, I've been following your weight loss for a while now and it's just fantastic to watch! Even more fantastic is the exercising! Go you!

I'm going to echo what 2Big said: don't let that stupid girlfriend have control over what you do with your body. Every time you want to stick your finger in that pie, just think to yourself that there is no way in H*** that she's going to derail you off the atkins train. No way, nunh-unh, not gonna happen. If you're at the anger stage yet, you can also use that as a motivator: cuz you're gonna be one fiiiiiiiiiine mommacita at the end of this journey, and won't that show him/her? Hmph!

I think the cancer stress is a little bit harder, but you can view it the same way. The scary thing about cancer is the lack of control, and from my years of atkinsing I can say this about it: it puts me in control of my food, which helps me gain control in other aspects of my life and gives me the self confidence that I lack when I'm going down the river of life without a paddle (so to speak). Lots of times in my life I am just drifting, and I get sad and depressed and stop paying attention to the details. Eventually that gets out of hand, and I start gaining weight. But I will say this, atkins helps me - it's like the first step to regaining control over the things I can control. And while there are a lot of things in life you can't control, being able to direct the aspects of life that you CAN control helps immensely.

So, we're here for you! Why don't you post in the daily thread for a few days, and let us help you through the rough bit at the beginning. That's what we're here for!
