  • Sunday Check In

Hey everybody, well Monday is right around the corner. I hope everybody is getting back and settled in. We stayed home, and had a very restful time. I eat new things in the dessert low carb world and that's been something I did not trust myself with...So now of course I want them more and more...
It's been a good moment to see how I "still am" underneath...just because you remove something does not mean YOU'VE changed, it means you removed it...
To see real change in yourself, keep that item around yourself and watch your thoughts and actions toward it, if you dare.
I think I did alright, but it was on my mind way too much...We even went out of our way to make a weird choc cheese cakie thing...
I will put that away til Christmas, and enjoy the treat again then.

So, how is everybody doing? Gearing up for a new week, and the Christmas season? I know I am getting my thoughts together...

    Jess

I know what you mean, my first time around on Atkins it was the legal goodies that broke me - I have never had a sweet tooth, but when I removed all the carbage from my system, for some reason I started craving sweet things, so I would bake, and bake and bake..............disaster!

This time around, i'm sticking to the occasional sugar free jelly for now - I know myself better this time and in a way thats what this WOL is all about!

Well done on staying strong and realising that sometimes it takes longer for us to change than we throught!

Its good to know yourself, and I think its so great that this WOL can bring that out in a person. The ability to really learn who you are. I've found that to be really inspiring.

        Re: Sunday Check In

I'm up and running! Did my 2 miles and checking the boards before heading to the shower before church. I sure did miss exercising before the day started. Now I can run on the endorphines all day long!

I agree. Tgiving was great, but way too much legal stuff. I'm sure it's gonna be a ruff few days with my sweet tooth calling those no-longer-here low carb treats. I think for Cmas I will do jello and keep it really simple instead of fancy smancy stuff that just borders on my old ways. I've done too well to fall now!

So, I'm off to down some water and hopefully get it out before church starts Gonna be a good day gearing up for Monday and schedules all over again.

          Re: Sunday Check In

          Hi, everyone.

I'm new here, just starting the day after Thanksgiving. I made the decision last week that I was going to start, but with a lot of other things going on in my life right now, I just couldn't handle starting this new way of life on Thanksgiving. But my decision made me aware of what I was going to eat and I did pretty well that day.

Like the rest of you, this sure isn't my first time on Atkins. It very well may be the first time I've done it the correct way though. Jess told me about this group and suggested I join. I need all the encouragement and support I can get, so seeing your successes is sure going to help.

Thanks for letting me join the group. Having a place to check in every day and be accountable is just what I need.

            Hello STAC!

Not much here on this Sunday morning...just more snow! Bf and I are bundling up today to re-take Xmas card pics...which I'm happy about because now it will look like a Winter Wonderland! Waiting for my omelette to be done...glad the cheesecake is gone--it was good, but yes, something to be saved for special occasions only...it will wait until Christmas.

              Re: Sunday Check In

Okay, I'm here. I have been awful this past week about posting. Soooo busy. Big mistake too. As, I hang my head down in shame, I admit for the first time since I started......I cheated. The thing is, it wasn't even on Thanksgiving! I did so well eating my ham and turkey, even made my own dessert so I could eat a dessert. (Atkins friendly of course) I refused the deviled eggs because they were made with Miracle Whip instead of mayonnaise. Everyone told me how wonderful I looked, and how strong I was. Well, last night I craved a pizza. Not an Atkins pizza either. For some reason I told myself it was ok because I had been doing so well and that I'd just work it off at the gym this morning. So the pizza went in. Afterwards, I thought the blizzard would be ok too. So, this morning, I gave myself a scolding and asked "what was I thinking" I'm blaming it on myself only. Why is it i'm doing so good and start getting those compliments rolling in that I think I was born skinny and can eat what I want?! Auggh! So, today, I'm going to the grocery store and loading up on Induction foods again, and putting an extra half hour into the gym. Now, I have a question and a comment.

Q - How many days should I do the induction again? Until I get back into ketosis, or another 14days?

C - My weigh-in day today, and I've lost 3 more pounds. (I know, I should expect to see those back on in the next couple days!)

                Hey Jess,

I always come read the check-ins every morning (or afternoon in this case - I can't believe I slept so long ). Your words always inspire me and make me think.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic (It's been that kind of day for me apparently) but when you said this it reminded me of something:

"To see real change in yourself, keep that item around yourself and watch your thoughts and actions toward it, if you dare."

One time at Easter, my DFiance thought it would be a good idea to buy a 1 Kg bag of mini-eggs just so he could put them on the counter and see how long he could not eat them for . They would've sat in our cupboard forever had I not so kindly polished them off for him.

                  Cute Krisiti...
Chocolate would not last long in my house....and guess what I would not touch it...my husband is the true sweet tooth...When we married, he was a health nut freak...a few yrs later my sister moved in for a season, and she made mention that I put out m&m's at christmas and that they were always disappearing, I laughed and said, "thats because you are addicted to them" and looked at me in horror...and said NO!!!! it's your husband!!! I could not believe it! I had put them out because I knew she loved them...HE WAS INHALING THEM...but remember I live with Mr. Metabolism. He has weight 150-55 for the whole 17 yrs we've been married...that's it nothing more and sometimes less...

Sounds like my hubby. Hes weighed 180 our entire marriage. He still wears pants he had in high school. (And whenever he makes a crack about that, I deck him, and ask him if he wants to have the babies next time around.)

I'm did great this weekend. I still feel pumped up and I hope it stays this way I finished my 2 weeks of induction on Thursday I lost a total of 8 pounds Yay ! and I can feel and see i difference already, my family have also said they can see a loss esp in my face.
I have been the same weight for afew days but I'm sure its just my body adjusting and the scale will move in no time. I am going to stay on induction for awhile because I still feel okay with my meals I'm not too bored yet but if I start feeling like I need more I will move on but for now its extended induction for me.

Congrats everyone! Seems like we all made it through with minimal damage. I exercised more this holiday than I ever had in the past. I feel great. My hubbie joined me and kept me company. His lost a few pounds as well.

I'll be out of town the next week or so and won't have time to get on line since I'll be at a conference. I plan on walking and watching what I eat. It will be tough but if I can make Thanksgiving I can do this.

                        Keep strong...see ya'll on Monday, the 4th.
