  • Monday Check in on your values?

Do you know the value of ketosis. Do you know why it's the core to all your Atkins success. Do you know why you need to keep yourself in ketosis?

DD and I have been re-reading our book. Discussing all about ketosis. Did you know we are on a ketogenic diet...

Who knows the two biggest benefits of ketosis?

Jan 1 is right around the corner, and I plan on going right into the new year in ketosis...where my body is burning my fat storage for fuel. I will go through the holidays with a diminished appetite, because of the suppression that comes from being in ketosis. I will go through the holidays FREE of the CARB CYCLES.

I have put away the holiday legal treats and have gone back to NO desserts til Christmas day.
I am diligently looking over the calendar to parties that have been planned for, invitations that have been accepted...looking at where there might be a suprise something....
Why all of this, well if I understand the value of ketosis and how much it helps me maintain daily, I will not toss it away for carbs...
If I focus on the challenges coming, I can better plan to overcome them, so I arrive at my goal which is to be right here strongly on Atkins Jan 1.
If I dust off this past week of eating, and examine what I allowed and it's effect, I can better monitor foods in my life and what triggers me, what lingers in my mind...
If I stop and get a grip now, I might be able to maintain my grip through this next holiday season that seems to be rather protracted...
    Just my thoughts today...
So does any one want to talk about the value of ketosis????

good morning! I am back from my trip to Florida! We had the best time.. I walked my behind off... but now it is back to basics.

      Induction Day 1!

The kids are off school today for a snow day. we are supposed to have snow through tomorrow. I am going to make a trip to the gym this morning as soon as I post this since I have a class to teach at 9 am!

I totally know the value of ketosis. for me Ketosis curbs my appitite and my body is burning fat for fuel. I know I am in ketosis when my 14 Carat gold wedding ring makes my finger black! LOL! That only happens during induction, but it totally clues me in!

I havent weighed in yet for my start weight this time around. but I wanted to say hello and let you all know I am back!

Re: Monday Check in on your values?

I know the value of it...but for me, it's not an obvious, smack-in-the-face presence. I've never had the bad breath, I've never used ketostix, I've never had the metallic taste in my mouth. But I know it's there. I can see it in my energy levels. I can feel it in my appetite supression. I can tell by the change in my body--the weight I'm losing, the muscle I'm gaining, the reversal of aging, almost.

My ketosis is sort of like the concept of faith--something I believe in without ever having "CONCRETE" empirical proof, like ketostix. I know it exists for me, even if it's shy and not shouting out its presence.

I've just completed my 1st week of induction. So far so good. I did get the ketostix and tested myself yesterday. They turned purple and I have never been so excited in my life!!! A bit like some of the others, I felt I was in Ketosis, but seeing the evidence in front of me was great!!! who'd have thought peeing on a stick could bring such joy!

Re: Monday Check in on your values?

Day 4 of induction and going strong. This is much easier than I thought it was going to be. So far (knock on wood) there is no induction flu. Wonder if my stix are purple yet? I'm going to have to check tonight.

I need to continue reading the book because I don't completely understand ketosis yet.

Re: Monday Check in on your values?

Hi everybody -- got back late yesterday from a 5 day camping trip. I cooked Thanksgiving dinner in our RV (very small turkey roast, which was delicious, canned corn, canned gravy, instant potatoes, stove top stuffing). My family loved it! I just had a bunch of turkey. I didn't take any salad fixings, but I did really well the entire trip, eating turkey, sausage, cheese, eggs, pork rinds. I was really surprised that I had no cravings for the junk food. I even passed on the s'mores, but it was really difficult. My big treat throughout the trip was diet pepsi.

I got quite a bit of exercise, riding the dirt bikes and walking my dogs out in the desert.

I finished 2 weeks of induction yesterday with a total loss of 9 pounds. I'm really proud of that. All the diet pepsi may have held me back a couple of pounds, but I'm still very happy.

I'm sort of like Juli with the ketosis. I've never used the strips, but I know I'm in it, and I definitely know how important it is!

I'm trying to get caught up with the posts I missed regarding Thanksgiving, but I hope everybody did well, or at least survived it.

Re: Monday Check in on your values?

                  Hi everyone.

Well, I was violently ill yesterday and had to eat some rice. There was no hope for it. The good news is that I lost 3 pounds. The bad news is that it was because I was sick. :P

Other than that the weekend went well. Hopefully the 3 pound loss (2 of which were gained at thanksgiving somehow, even though i ate legal, so really a 1 pound loss) will stick. Doubtful though, since I lost it being sick. :P

Sorry to hear you were so sick, Knicknack. Sometimes our Atkins rules have to take a back seat to emergencies/illnesses, know what I mean?

Just take care of yourself and get your strength back.

Re: Monday Check in on your values?

As I have an addictive personality, when I used the sticks, I would use one EVERY time i went to the loo - and on Atkins, thats a lot!! LOL

So now I don't use them, but I know i'm in ketosis, how? Well, unfortunately I do get the breath issues but more importantly I can feel it - in my energy, my mindset, and in my body.

I have made similar vows to you Jess with regards the christmas season, I will NOT cheat, break or fall off the wagon as nothing is worth sabotaging myself!
