Weighing - depends on the person. Will weighing once a week keep you in line? Will you be disappointed with no loss? Will the scale dictate your mood or your day?? it was fun at first to see the loss,,, then the scale started ruling my world.

Exercise - is 35 min of cardio 5x a week something you will be able to keep up with on a longterm basis? You can also alternate with days of strength training.

    measure - once a month.

Headaches - typical with carb withdrawal and can be lessened by eating smaller, frequent meals, lots of water, and plenty of Tylenol. it will pass!!

    Best of luck!!

      Re: Some questions

As a wide-eyed newbie (2nd time on Atkins or not) with a zillion questions because you want to do it right, you will need the following tools:

DANDR (2002 edition), the Stickys listed in each forum when you enter, and some reading time to browse threads/posts concerning everything from induction flu headaches to the evil nature of the bathroom scale, which we all talk about regularly. The search box on the tool bar (especially advanced mode) can really speed up your hunt for information.

      In answer to your questions:
how often should I weigh myself? I have been doing it everyother day.
Many people weigh this frequently only to end up discouraged by normal up and down fluctuation on the scale weight. There are no-weigh challenges for those who think they weigh too often. There's no rule on frequency, but during induction it's advisable to measure & weigh at h=the beginning & end of the 2-wk period.

      Second..is 35 min of cardio 5x's a week enough?
Everyone is different. Factors such as your medical health and current state of fitness can mean you can now, or should not ever, or should start slow & work up to that level of exercise. You should have your status assessed by a physician before starting a new exercise program or Atkins (read the book )

      Third...How often should I measure?
Before you start, and as desired later on. It's really reassuring to see inches lost even though the scales may not reflect it in your weight. Your clothes will "measure" for you ,too, when they start falling off!

Fourth and last....are slight headaches normal or should I eat more often
If you just started induction, this is normal and should pass when your body adjusts to being in ketosis. You should eat if you are hungy and stop when you are no longer (rather than when you are "full" or the food's gone). Drink plenty of water and broth to help offset the diuretic effect, which is great during initial induction.
