  • Reactions to carbs

On sunday, I got really really bad food poisoning (or something). I was really really (really) sick. I ended up having to eat some rice in a last ditch effort to try to fix things. It worked (medicine didn't have any effect). So, I ate rice in my chicken broth for two days, as it was really the only thing that worked.

Anyway, this is the tale of the way my body has reacted to it:

    1) Allergies. Holy cow, they're back! I hadn't realized that they were gone but now I do. I am now waking up in the mornings congested again, sniffly all day. I do not have a cold. I feel like I used to every day - stuffed up and sinusy.

    2) Mucous. it's thicker. Remember the yeast test thing where you spit and stuff? well tha'ts back. When I brush my teeth and spit it's like hocking a loogie, except it's just regular spit. Gross!

    3) TIRED. Oh my, am I tired. Of course, this might be because I was so sick.

    4) Cravings. Well, I don't need to say much about that.

    5) Headache. From the stuffed up sinuses. Ugh!

    6) Taste in my mouth. Both Monday and tuesday I woke up with the nastiest taste in my mouth. It was vile. My breath smelled too. It was like eating the rice made my mouth get all gross. (And no, i wasn't throwing up)

Anyway, I just found it interesting that I was noticing all these things, and really grossed out by them. I mean why would I want to live with all that stuff? It is SO noticeable! I can't wait til it all goes away.

Please let me never get food poisoning again. :P But I have to say, this is a fine fine wakeup call as to more reasons not to go back to the high carb lifestyle!

Thanks knicknack, those are some very gross but real reasons to stick with it!
A lot of that I hadn't thought about, I'll forgo testing the theory, cause I remember those things from my bad old carbie fat days!

Hope you feel better VERY soon!
