  • Thursday checkin - how was November?

    It's Thursday! Today is the last day of hurricane season! Celebrate with me, people

    I'm doing really well. Feeling great. Already did my 1.75 miles on the gazelle and know that will push me through the rest of the day. I'm about to start the water and my day with exercise behind me and it feels great. Watching The Biggest Loser does soo much for my motivation.

    I did weigh this morning and have lost 2 pounds for the month! Whoo hoo! I'm sure all that test cooking before Tgiving for Tgiving and then eating after Tgiving was the culprit. But heck, I feel so good knowing I lost 2 pounds and did not gain! November was a trying month and we made it! Next Tgiving I will have less testing cooking to do and hopefully thought the year I can try new things and know what I want for Tgiving and Cmas. Pumpkin consumed me this year LOL

    I only got in 3 videos this month. I have learned I'd rather the gazelle, but now and again I need that strength training that the video gives. I also have to lengthen my gazelle running as I don't huff and puff until a good 3/4 of a mile. Yeah me!!! I exceeded my milage challenge because it's just so much easier to do.

    So.. how did you do on your challenges?

    Hey Rachel, seems like forever since we've hung out here. I have not weighed myself in a while, and won't til Sat. TOM is here. November was a doorway into eating new things as the holiday inspired stepping out. It seems the month brought new things to light.
    I ate my first desserts, and love them, and then wanted them all the time...I also found the treadmill and I really respect that machine as being on that can push you harder than you want to go, with the press of a button, it has no mercy! I always end of giving more of myself when a motor controls!!!! You know when its just my little legs, I can say I want to give more, but often don't step it up, on the treadmill I can say, more, press a button and HANG ON!!!!and then I am giving more.

    I am doing the Kick *** Athalon, in the Exercise Challenge for 6 weeks...My exercise buddies are all fired up...You pick three different ways and do them sequenchlely (sp?)
    and I have designed it sooo I can give the least in Jan when I will be slammed...
    So, I feel good.
    Deciding where we are right now...Food wise. Caitlin is stuck at 20lbs forever, and needs to drop another 20. But she is not really grasping the finer details and deeper levels of intensity in exercise. Eating legal is right, but tapering back to satisfied is her next step and it's such a big one! Jogging along is good, but upping your intensity can bring a break through!
    Modifying things, looking at results are all part of progress for us around here.

      I get discouraged because I loose so slow but I saw 185 in nov. Even at that rate I wont be fat next christmas. I exercised a lot more in Nov. Thanks Jess

        November was a great month for me, because its when I started! I exceeded what I thought I could do for crunchers, which was a nice surprise. I'm eating great things, experimenting in the kitchen, and moving my body more than I have in a long time! I'm so glad to have the support from y'all. It makes this so much easier! I'm looking forward to setting some new goals in December!

          You know that old saying, in order to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you put in? I think it applies here. Your body gets use to eating and exercising and it stabilizes. Sometimes just changing what you are doing will get it going again. We are wonderful machines!

            November was a good month for me because I made the decision to start Atkins. It will be a week tomorrow.

            I haven't checked in for a couple days because of computer problems at home, but I think I'm back in business.

              Hrmmm well I'm gonna break the trend here and say I'm disappointed with November. I was thrilled with October, had awesome results, and I think my expectations were too high for this month...My goal was to lose 10lb. and so far I'm at 5.5...I'm not guessing I'll lose 4.5lb. by tomorrow. I am happy to have lost those 5.5lb. but I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong or differently...I feel like I've been slouching somewhere and my weight loss (or lack thereof) shows it.

              I'm also comparing myself to the LAST time I did this...I lost 2.5 or 3lb. per week NO MATTER WHAT I DID. So I'm bummed...But I think this new weight training program might have something to do with it? And for the past two weeks, Boot Camp and Kickboxing have been cancelled...so I'm hoping next week is really good, to start my December right!

                Juli are you in MY BODY???? I can feel this month has been a slow loosing month too.
                I can feel it, just don't know..I have been stuck at no loss for over a week and a half.
                I am ok with it, but I wonder if our bodies don't just need a bit of time to adjust what we are putting it through...All this exercise and eating healthy..Mine is probably saying, "what is she gonna do to me next?"
                Hang in there, disappointment is good, it will keep you sharp and focused for Dec.

                  November was a great month for me I started the Atkins WOL and 3 weeks in I have lost 9.5 pounds and feel great. Today is my birthday and I'm having a Awesome low carb day we are having chicken and baby back ribs with a side of broccoli with butter for supper Mmmm .

                    Happy Birthday Ante!!!! Yummm chicken...I would eat that over birthday cake ANY DAY! I am a chicken fanatic!

                    Jess--yeah I've been thinking about my post for a couple hours now...and at first I was feeling sorry for myself, thinking I'm going to be stuck at 221 forEVER, you know, would I like some cheese with that WHINE?

                    But now I am determined...DETERMINED for DECEMBER, that I will go above and beyond. When I think back on it, I think I have been eating too quickly, and not noticing exactly when I'm full. I need to give myself smaller servings to start and really listen to my body. Also, my cardio has been getting easier and maybe I haven't pushed myself as much as I could be...I need to get back on that treadmill, and I am totally excited for this KickAssTriAth to start tomorrow...I think it'll be just what I need to re-awaken my metabolism!

                    So Jess, maybe this is just what happens in this 10th or 11th week mark...maybe our bodies are hitting another adjustment plateau...getting ready for the next big move DOWN the scale!

                        Didn't meet my projected 6 lb. loss. Actually, I gained 2 lbs but I am not the least bit upset with myself because I know I did pretty good. I did have problems on thanksgiving (where I ate too many veggie side dishes, knocked myself out fo ketosis and then loss ground for about 3 days until I got back into ketosis), But I am glad to say that this is the only time in November that I went over my limit. I can't see this as being the reason I put on 2lbs.

                        Because of my medical conditions and the frequent changes in my meds, I've come to expect my weight to stall and flectuate from time to time. I currently have edema in my legs and feet, so I assume that the gain may be from the water retention. My metabolism is also probably slowing down again since I was instructed to dramatically increase my steroid medication to 60 mg (from a low 15 mg) recently and I had another blood pressure pill added to my regimen.

                        I feel good though, because I can tell that my waist is smaller and my back is not bothering me. So I know that something is changing. My husband also said that my stomach seemed smaller. That always makes me feel pretty good.

                        Is there a December Challenge in the works? I want to go at it again! Whether I reach the goall # or not, setting monthly goals like this seems to help me stay focused a bit more than randomly weighing myself.

                          Ya know Stretch, feeling good is a huge plus of doing Atkins. I have no reflux, no heartburn, much better periods, and so much less PMS. I have a clear head and can stay focused. That is such a plus!

                            Juli, I do think our bodies are just taking a little rest, and regrouping it'self for what ever we do to it next...I'll betch all those little cells are talking amoungst themselves, they say, "OOOOOHHHHHH here comes DETERMINDED DECEMBER!!!!!!, RUN and HIDE!!! GRAP AND TAKE ALL THE FAT YOU CAN HOLD ON TOOOOOOO"
