  • I'm A Chocoholic And Have Ruined My Induction Period

Hi guys I feel horrible, I work for a law office and today a client gave me a box of chocolates with about 100 chocolates in it. I fought temptation, but all in all I failed myself and gave in. I swear I must have had about 20 pieces. I've always loved chocolate, now of course, as espected I'm feeling really guilty. What now? I wasn't expecting to fall off the wagon so soon.
This feels horrible and to think that I was doing really well. Usually this happens to me all the time the week prior to my period. Please help. What do I do since I didn't even get to finish my induction period. Also, what do I do for the crazy, out-of-control cravings that I get the week before my period? Guys I really need help, I'm trying to conceive and my doctor says I really need to drop 40 lbs. otherwise it's not happening. Any feed back
    will be greatly appreciated.

    Merry XMas to all !!!!!!

Get back on plan, don't fret about it. What's done is done, and now you need to focus on eating legal foods and drinking your water. Do you know what made you eat the chocolates? Figure out what the trigger was and avoid it for next time.

TOM gives everyone cravings, I'm sure. During TOM I eat high fat/protein meals and snacks, drink plenty of water, and if I REALLY REALLY am craving chocolate, I will mix up cream cheese, cocoa, and stevia in the microwave or a small bit of chocolate mousse...but be careful. These foods are "legal"--but that doesn't mean you can over-indulge. Have a serving and move on.

I've been offered candies and sweets and whatnot like CRAZY this week (and from children, how do you turn down a cupcake from a child?) I just tell them, I can't have sugar, why don't you keep it, that way you can enjoy it and I'm not able to eat it. If it's a gift, accept it graciously, then put it away and give it to someone else who will appreciate it. I usually will bring stuff home and give it to my boyfriend, or if he doesn't eat it, he'll take it to his work...because I don't have the heart to just throw things away (which is what a lot of people will say to do.) I DO KNOW that if you eat something illegal, throw the rest of it away and then pour vinegar or dish soap on it so you can't dig it out again!

My avoidance strategy over the last 2 years has been the same as Julirama's - say thank you and don't open the box if you can manage it! Then rewrap it and give it away - preferrably to someone with no weight problems!

If you are among a group of people and leaving it unopened is awkward then open it straight away and offer it around once or twice. With a little luck and appearing occupied in deep conversation while the box is passed around you will find it is empty when it gets back to you.

In general I try to have a 'legal' snack handy too, so I can eat something if the cravings get too bad.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Yep, jump right back on your plan, and don't do it again. I have also started to tell people I can't have sugar. That's the truth. We were given a wrapped tin tray of 4 dozen home made cookies and fudge a couple of days ago. It sat on our counter for a day. And then yestderday, I had my husband move it to the garage until we gave it to the neighbors when they came home. No way would I have planned on eating it, but I know myself well enough that I could have had a moment of thinking , "What the heck." Good work for catching yourself now.
