Today i passed an incredible test ---I baked chocolate chip cookies to bring to work and i didn't taste any--not a crumb---not even the batter!!!
I'm not one for new year's resolutions and it is pure coincidence that i restarted Atkins on the 1st of January---for me this is the only way i ever lose weight and slower than most people, but as long as i feel energetic and see some progress i plan to keep going strong!
The amazing thing is that I have no Atkins flu symptoms and no cravings this time ( so i don't even have excuses to mess up) I just hope it doesn't kick in later on.
Although "second time around" is merely a euphemism for me (umpteenth time is more real); I lost 21 lbs last year on Atkins and around that time DH was unemployed for a while and a very full time job was offered to me out of the blue thru really indirect connections---they were begging me to come work for them---I was priveliged to be home with the kids for ten years ---but they wanted me ; we had almost no income, living abroad in a foreign culture, language, in a place where age discrimination for jobs is rampant; and i'm forty something----I was't quite qualified for this job---but i started anyway.
Well my diet went downhill after that---working long hours; then coming home and doing the second shift---the Mommy hours---keeping the house in order ( well barely)---plus getting stressed out from long term and short term housguests. Just recently i was sick for several weeks---it lingered mostly because my doctor was negligent---but i was working there for a year and they were so good about it and i was out sick for six weeks!!!
Anyway, sorry to go on and on, i ate almost nothing, but i didn't lose weight so i knew that no matter what i had to get back on Atkins to stay! Also i was so totally drained of any energy and was short of breath when i was sick
that i was just yearning to get myself back on Atkins to jumpstart my energy, and here i am.
Unfortunately my daughter got sick just after that but when i was home w/ her i had the time to bake/cook lots of induction frienly foods and this helps me tremendously.
Good Luck to all of us 'Restart Newbies' I know that with the support here at ADBB is phenomenal, i hope that i will be able to contribute to the success of others as well!
