  • Does anyone else feel this way?

The first time I did Atkins was very very hard. I had to fight every craving tooth and nail, I had to force myself to drink the water and excersize and logging on to fitday was a big ol pain in the butt. I dont have a clue how I made it as long as I did.
This time around I have a whole different attitude towards everything. I know what to expect the first few days, I know that I NEED the water and how much it really helps as well as the excersize, and if I dont log onto fitday theres no way to know how Im doing. Ive also learned what my weaknesses are, I know exactly why I fell off the wagon before ( frankenfoods!! ) so I can steer clear of them this time. I really havent had one single craving so far, things just seem much easier. I have the " hey Im a pro at this, I know what Im doin, look at me go " state of mind. Is anyone else feeling this??

Yes, that's exactly how I felt this time last year when I started my 2nd time around. I think it's because we are taking a realistic look at why we failed. Also the first time I was determined to do it my way (with the frankenfoods, and little cheats, etc.)...obviously that didn't work for me. This time I'm not making excuses...I want results...and I'm getting them!

Right!!! The first time I refused to give up my 4 cups of coffee a day and I was eating all the sugar free candy I wanted and all the low carb energy drinks...I didnt even read the book. Like you said, I was doing it my way. Glad this is easier for you too, and by the way....you look AWESOME!!!

Thanks, you do too. Make sure you read the book, it's so informative. I find that if I have a scientific explanation for the cravings and feeling the way I do, then I can handle it. Plus he gives great strategies for coping with the cravings.

I mostly feel this way, though if I was losing as fast as the first time I'd probably feel more so, hehe. I love logging into fitday at the end of the day and seeing my percentages come out right even with me not thinking about things. I think once you get the hang of this it becomes a way of life just by habit, which is a great thing!

This time I'm feeling that way. More energetic and postive about this way of eating and my ability to do it for life. The cravings aren't there and I'm drinking my water. I was not feeling this way the last go around - I've definitely had a switch in attitude. 2007 will be our year ladies

Re: Does anyone else feel this way?

I was learning the first time from scratch. I read the book cover to cover and I constantly stayed on the boards. I have to say it went well. This time I already know what to expect and it has made things easier. Keep it up you all look great.

Re: Does anyone else feel this way?

I guess I'm a freak 'cause I found it a *lot* easier the first time around. I lost a lot of weight, in a pretty short time, was down to goal... I just didn't know how to do OWL/Maintenance correctly so I added carbs back in as a whole not in portions. Then again, I hadn't read the book - my stepmother had since my father was on Atkins - so I wasn't really sure what I was doing or why, or tracking things, but I knew it was working so I kept doing it.... This time I'm a nutcase, I keep falling off, dusting myself off and getting back on the horse, tracking everything I do... hrm

Re: Does anyone else feel this way?

My first time, I was an airhead about it--I didn't read the book, I just added back carbs immediately after induction (like what Lyssie was talking about) and yes I did seem to lose more weight SOONER last time, but I don't think it was easier--I had no control over what I was eating. I just ate anything that said low-carb, including sugar free candy, shakes, bars, chips (UGHHHHHHHH horrible! but I ate those low-carb chips anyway!), ice cream, chocolate, hot dog buns, bread, etc. And I started "forgetting" my veggies.

Now I have a sense of calm about doing this...I've read the book and continue to re-read it. I'm doing things properly. Watching my percentages, adding new foods slowly, gradually upping my carbs. That's not to say I haven't made mistakes (low-carb pb cookies! AHHHHHH!) but I certainly feel confident in the way that I'm progressing and in the fact that I KNOW I'm doing things right!
