Does anyone know where in 2002 DANDR it discusses the "metalic taste" you get. I would love to read the explanation but I can't seem to find it in the book. Please help. I am experiencing this terribly right now and would love to read up on it.

    Thanks for any help.

In chapter 9 Facts and Fallacies #12 talks about the bad breath but doesn't mention the metallic taste.

I don't know if it ever talks about it... but that 'taste'... is a result for me at least... is as good as using Ketostix... ... it means you're in the 'zone'..... you'll get used to it..

when it went away for me.. that's when I actually bought the first pack of ketostix... because I was afraid I wasn't doing it 'right' anymore..

What you taste is acetone. Its a by product of ketosis.

I can see how ketones might taste metallic to some people. The taste in my mouth is stale and somewhat sharp, maybe metallic like but also kind of sweet. I go against Dr. A and chew gum. As a hairstylist, there simply is no other way. I work way too one on one up close with people to have ketone breath! I recommend the Orbit Sweetmint flavor. It's a mild gum and it's flavor lasts a long time and it stays soft so that my jaw doesn't hurt. Also sometimes after lunch I suck on a lemon wedge sprinkled with splenda. The citrus helps A LOT!
