I am so fed up with myself. Time and time again, I go on Atkins saying that this is it. This is my new lifestyle. Time and time again, I lose a ton of weight (each time becoming more difficult and more of a snails pace) and then I cheat once, which becomes twice, which becomes a week, and then poof all the weight is back and then some. I eat junk under stress and boredom. I have now regained all of the weight I lost plus another 10 pounds putting me at my highest weight ever and needing to lose 100 pounds. How did I get here? I feel so disgusted with myself and so hopeless. Do you have a 10th time around forum?

    Hi Jaria

I am so sorry that you are feeling down. I understand exactly what you are going through. I did the exact same thing time and time again. What I have noticed to be helpful is to keep as much illegal stuff out of the house as possible. If I feel that I have to have something sweet I just whip up some cream cheese with either powdered cocoa or sprinkle some cinnamon on it. That way I get to indulge a little but not really cheat.
But dont beat yourself up.. Use that frustration and turn into motivation. You can do it

      Re: venting

Oh Honey. We have ALL been there. Food addiction is harder to break than any drug addiction out there. Think about it: we have to face our demons everyday with our addictions. We can't just avoid eating like drug addicts can avoid the drug entirely. We have to eat, everyday in order to survive. And it seems like the world is full of demons that are begging you and tempting you to just take one bite, "indulge, you deserve it." Well NO ONE deserves that crap in our bodies!

We have no right to do things to ourselves that cause us pain. We have no right to put ourselves at risk. We have no right to make ourselves unhealthy. We have people that love us and need us to be healthy mentally and physically.

You can only try try try again. When I have fallen off the wagon, I just force myself to make it through one day of Induction. I always feel better that very same night and usually find the will power to continue on.

I started again 11 days ago and although I've not really lost one pound on the scale, I put on some work pants this morning I've been avoiding wearing for 3 months because they were just ever so slightly uncomfy and my belly hung over the top too much. Guess what I'm wearing right now? Yep, and althought they don't fit perfectly yet, I can wear them comfortably and my belly is sliding down into the top of the pants rather than being so constricted by them that it hangs. I HATE hanging belly fat over pants!

So you owe it to yourself to make you feel tons better in a matter of days just by getting back on the wagon!

        Yep...we call it "life".

Seriously, if I added up all the weight I've lost and gained over 40+ years it would form a decent little hill/mountain.

        Keep slugging.

          Re: venting

thanks for the words of encouragement. Yesterday--I bought junk (Rocky Road and cheddar popcorn to be exact) and this morning woke up disgusted at myself for doing that. I'm one of those (oh-I'll start Monday) people, but when Monday rolls around, I cheat, and then it's Next Monday. This time, I started on a Thursday and hopefully I can stick to it because I literally feel gross. My biggest fault is convenience. I work two jobs (7 days a week--about 70 hours between the two) so I never cook and am always eating out. However, I have always been able to make smart choices before doing the same thing and have managed well. Thanks again, friends, I hope I can do it.

              Re: venting

If you have a fridge handy you can certainly bring good choices with you. If not hard boiled eggs and almonds travel well. I always try to keep turkey around, precut into hunks since I'm also scanning calories at this point.

There's ways to make it work but they do require effort and preparation for the most part. However...you're worth it. There's no other thing in your life, bar none, that remains with you more than yourself/your body. Make it a priority. Think that way for one year and be amazed at what you'll accomplish.

                  Re: venting

Hi welcome. I wish you the best of luck. For me, becoming active in this board was the best thing to help me change my attitude. I no longer look forward to a day when I can 'go back' to the foods that caused me to become overweight. Instead, I look forward to upcoming years when I can maintain and keep my WOE going regardless of what is happening in my life. I know its not easy, I still have temptations, but thank goodness I have friends here who understand and are always here for me when I need their support. You've found the best support system here and people who will encourage you to keep going. Best wishes!! I look forward to seeing you succeed.

                    Re: venting

I used to be really active on this board, boot camp and all. I think I shall become super active again as it gives me someone to answer to and therefore I stick to it more. So I definitely have a headache right now, no soda at all today which is a biiiiig feat for me. Water only.

Good Luck to you Jaria. Don't beat yourself up about starting and stopping. It happens on all the time to everyone. Start again and come in here and read and post a lot. And I know about the slow too. I thought I would drop a decent amount of weight on induction but it wasnt much at all this time. A couple of pounds. But in the last 2 weeks its really starting to come off and I feel great. Dont give up, you can do it!

lol thanks. man i almost fell into my same ways again. i was like damn, all that rocky road at home...and then stopped at the supermarket and bought chicken and celery instead! I did give in and have a diet pepsi...that's a work in progress. however, I went from no water and 7 diet pepsis a day, to tons of water and one pepsi yesterday.
