  • Send me your positive thoughts!

    Hey gang,
I haven't been around for awhile. I hope I haven't been completely forgotten!

I have been hanging out at the exercise challenge forum (6 weeks) a bit and the Memorial Day Challenge. I don't have a lot of time and I really wanted to make a commitment to exercising. I am so proud to report that I have been exercising very regularly for a couple of months now.

My Big News... This is really huge, especially if you know ME...

I am going to run a 5K!! Yep, I really am going to do it. My brother challenged me to do it a few weeks ago. I am doing this to honor my father who passed away a year ago. I am doing this for my family who want me to be healthy. I am doing this for me to prove that I can do it and I can commit to something and keep it.

Mostly, I am doing this with my brother so that I can KICK HIS BUTT!!!

I have just over a month left to train. My goal was to be able to meet the 15 minute mile minimum, but I already did that!! Ha, Yip. My new goal is to be able to run the whole way. Shannon. Running. Imagine that...

    149.8/no weigh/ 119

    1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
    rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
    rung 4 - berries, melon
    rung 5 - wine -
    rung 6 - beans, hummus
    rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
    Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
    (on to pre-maintenance)

          Good for you!! 10K! Woot.

One of these days, I would like to run the Army 10 miler in Washington, D.C. My husband is in the Army and he did it one year. The places you run around are fabulous. I imagine the Peachtree Run would be amazing. Atlanta is a great city.

You can do it Shannon! and OutbackJess... I hope to be doing my 18th Peachtree this year. I've done it in all degrees of fatness and fitness... from my original one in under 50 minutes in 1990 to the +100 minutes it took last year... lol... but I still did it! (with Daddy and sis )... now Daddy has the cancer damaged leg.. so it's slower going for us all.

            GOOD luck to us all!
