  • SATURDAY check-in 1/20

I didn't see a check-in thread, but that could just be me needing new glasses...

I hope everyone is out there, tackling exercise! I know Jess and Adena are out doing 8 miles today! Joy just reported doing over 7!

This is so motivating to me...I think I am going to try for a larger number on the treadmill than I thought possible.

I hope everyone is doing well, eating the right foods, drinking water, and of course, EXERCISING!!!

    Have a great day, STACers.

Seriously! There are some real achievers around here making the rest of us want to push harder and harder! That's great!

Here's my thought for the day...If you're feeling not so great for whatever reason, do something to help someone else. It WILL make you feel better. I am in the middle of a book that used this quote in telling a story..."When you help someone up a hill, you're that much nearer the top yourself." Makes sense to me I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday morning!

      Re: SATURDAY check-in 1/20

Good morning from 17 degree Denver!

So I had two rum and cokes last night, but I'm okay with that. I rarely drink and alcohol will not be a problem in my lifestyle change in the big picture. I'm not a huge fan of rum and diet coke, and I consider it a nice compromise, figuring what I really want is a white russian--which consists of sugary khalua syrup. So I'm okay with having a couple of r and dc's from time to time.

Today I am shopping for some real running shoes. I think running is what I found that I really like and my big ole tennies are dragging me down on that treadmill.

My neighbor works for an airline and gets buddy passes and last night brought up the idea of her and her husband and me and my boyfriend going to Guadalajara (sp?) last night. LOL, my FIRST THOUGHT was not, "Oh my god, how sweet of you, heck ya, let's go!" It was, "Hmmm..that's going to be rough to do on my diet these days." LOL. I didn't say that, but believe me, I thought of it! Oh the times, they are a-changing.

So tonight I am going to a fancy steakhouse with my wonderful also low carbin bf and I am looking sooo forward. I think I'll put on my clip on hair extenstions and look extra special cute!

But there's something that's been every so slightly bugging me: I haven't lost one pound in almost two weeks of this Induction. The only thing I was questionable about ingesting that may screw up any weight loss was last nights two cocktails. But not one pound! I am sooo glad I decided to FINALLY start measuring myself last week. I have it on the calenday to measure again on Feb 1st and see what my inches are doing. I know it's not in my head that my pants are fitting better. It can't be, right? But it is sort of bothering me that I haven't lost a pound when I've been so good. Oh well, it just takes time, I guess. Ketostix are wavering between small and moderate amounts of ketones, every know any then showing large amounts of ketones. I know I had previously been measuring ketones at the wrong times of the day so now that I've been measuring at the proper times, I am showing moderate levels. Which I am happy with. And I definiately get that hot, dry, weird keto breath and some weird aroma when I work out. It's not really weird, just very different.

I can't wait to see the results of julirama's no weigh challenge. I am thinking of taking up on that one myself.

Anyhoo, have a good day, y'all!

        Re: SATURDAY check-in 1/20

PiS, did you start exercising at the same time that you started induction? You might just be gaining muscle mass at the same time that you're losing fat/water, which means you'll stay around the same weight until such time as your muscles decide that they've caught up to this new exercise thing you're doing. That's what happens to me when I exercise anyway - my muscles are like OMG WHAT??? and do two things: get bigger, and retain water. So, that might be what is going on. If you're getting smaller and showing anything on the ketostix that means you're losing fat/water so you're fine. Just keep on truckin!

Also, TOM might be to blame, if that's anywhere near.

As for me today, i've lost another half pound. Considering i haven't lost a stitch since december first I'm pretty happy. Stupid holidays. :P

          Re: SATURDAY check-in 1/20

Yes, I've thought of that. I have been working out since I started, just cardio and whatnot. I'm keeping that in mind, but I've been getting into exercising very slowly, so it doesn't feel like my body has had time to build up muscle yet. But, could be wrong.
Also, I take the depo-provera birth control shot and it really screws with my cycle. However, I have started spotting after three months of no period at all, so maybe my body is just in total flux sudden exercise, induction and TOM trying to come around. Who knows.

But I do believe in the science and I'm not giving up so it's GOTTA be working. I think something that Dr. A should have pushed a bit with us second timers is to have FAITH in it when all else fails. it's like my old friend used to say regarding job performance at work, "As long as you are certain you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, you will succeed." I think of her saying that often. I apply it to this WOL.

Gotta have faith, cause sometimes that is all us STACers have to go on!

Pigs--I think you're gaining muscle and that's replacing the fat. The scale says you haven't lost "weight" but you've lost FAT, which is more important!

And you know what? When the time comes, you can have fake white russians...DaVinci makes Sugar Free Kahlua syrup...add vodka and heavy cream, bam! (Fake) White Russian.

Hi! I'm here! I was very bad and did NOT go to the gym yesterday but I did do Slim in 6 Ramp it Up this morning (ouch!) so I was very proud of myself for that.

Pigs - I went MANY weeks without losing the first time I did this and then it would always pick up again. So don't doubt it - just keep at it!!!

I need to measure myself too. I haven't yet. I will aim to do that tomorrow on weigh-in day.

                  Re: SATURDAY check-in 1/20

I am wondering when my time will come when I lose. I have been eating right, excersizing, drinking gallons of water and yet not much of anything is happening. My pants are a little looser, but I thought more would be gone by now. So I decided to change my attitude. I look to the positive instead. I feel better, I have tons more energy, my mind is clearer, and I am NOT gaining weight. So now I just live my life day to day and not worry so much. I wonder, but I dont worry. I trust in y'all that someday it will come.

                      Re: SATURDAY check-in 1/20

Thanks to everyone for kind comments. Today is an interesting day, my bf woke up sicker than a dog and he can't do anything so that means our dinner tonight is cancelled. I have been looking forward to it all week. So, I went out and got some cauliflower, Italian sausage with peppers and some more parmesean cheese for my current much mentioned obsession--parm cheese chips. I also got a spaghetti squash cause I wanna try that fettuccini chicken broccoli thing that julirama was talking about.

So I'm in for the night. That's okay though, it's only 31 degrees right now and getting colder. Who needs a night on the town in that kind of weather anyway?

                      Talk to y'all later!

Hi everyone, just checking in and i know it is late, i usually check in earlier than this, but i have been one busy lady today. I did ok today as far as my eating goes and i say that to say i have been running around all day and ate out for everyone of my meals and did not get eneough veggies whatsoever or water, as far as cheating i did not do that i just did not get my carbs even up to 20 i know. I had an omelette for bfast from ihop and i had them make it with real eggs and leave out the pancake batter, for lunch i had 10 hot wings and a few pieces of celery and then for dinner i stopped by hardees and got there low carb burger that is wrapped up in lettuce with a tomato so as you all can tell my veggies are very low for today, i will do better tomorrow. Well i hope everyone is having a great weekend i will check in later.
