  • January 24 - WFD?

What's on the menu today?? Boredom is a huge reason people slide... lets not slide!

Tonight is CCD for the kids, which means limited time for mom. They usually have homemade pizza or hotdogs or corn dogs.. anything fast.

I usually have hotdogs with saukraut MMM heated in a skillet with onions!

Tonight, I think I'm having fried fish Dredged in almond flour of course. Thinking roasted cauli. or brussels... not sure. And some cooked chayoted for dessert! MMM All good on a cold, rainy day in the South.

We are having leftover meat loaf, green beans, and mashed cauliflower from last night. I am saving room for some pumpkin sometime today too!

      Re: January 24 - WFD?

For breakfast, I'm having a couple of eggs and hot spicy sausage with cheese. I'm not really having a "lunch" today since I'm working from noon to 6:15 tonight, but I never leave home without snacks! So I'll take some peanuts and cheese and probably a small tupperware full of leftover faux shepherd's pie (I think I'll start just calling it Atkin's Pie from now on!) from last night to heat up in case I get hungry. It was soooo yummy! My low carbin' BF couldn't get enough of it!

Something interesting: I know you're not supposed to be hungry in Ketosis. But I must say, once I started working out and getting back to work instead of being pretty sedentary, I find myself hungry quite frequently! Especially at lunch time at work, and after I work out. Now, I work basically at a "daycare" program for seniors with Alzheimer's and head injury victims of all ages. We feed them breakfast, lunch, and a snack in the afternoon and I'm usually around pies and cookies and ice creams and little pizzas for snacktime, and at lunch, butter bread rolls, mac and cheese and potatos. I find the hardest thing to get over is the nectar of the Gods, toast with butter and jelly in the morning. In fact, yesterday, I was making a pile of it and I was just inhaling the aroma as if it were crack. I do often smell things over and over that I can't have. I think it helps me remember what it tastes like and it actually helps me. Kind of like a person who quits smoking wants to smell other people's cigarette smoke. I never understood how that helped them, but I do now! But anyway, at work, I am preparing and serving this food all day and everone else is munching and chowing no problem (and then complaining how they just can't seem to lose weight!). When it comes lunch time, everyone knows to simply, GET OUT OF MY WAY. I feel like I'm not supposed to be hungry, but I really can't see how anyone in our situation could not feel hungry when faced with this every day. And after working out, it seems like my ketone breath is tenfold worse than usual and I am so hungry I could chew on a dog. I have to keep snacks in the car to eat on the short 5 minute drive home! Does anyone else out there go through this?

Oh, and for dinner tonight...I'm thinking taco salad or burgers and salad. Either way, there's gotta be a salad in there and I've GOT to get rid of some veggies in my fridge. Well, I'm going to go make breakfast and then work out and get to work!

      Have a good day!

Tonight is steak night, my favorite night of the week! I've got some expensive rib eye steaks that I'm going to grill tonight (it's hard to eat the cheap stuff after having the good stuff).

        Brocolli and salad, too...

Pigs - I have always gotten really hungry for the first couple of weeks of Induction, does that count?

Uhmm.. my food for the day - breakfast was PB & cream cheese, snack was a chicken breast, lunch was some lettuce, other snack will be a couple hot dogs, dinner will be buffalo wings and blue cheese, and dessert will be either more cream cheese, or some ricotta if I remember it at the store...

I think we're having grilled chicken tonight, probably with green beans and a salad. Unless we wimp out and have a leftovers/forage night...then I'll be having a salad and pinwheels.

Pigs--I have been steadily increasing my workout schedule, and I'm hungry too! Not having cravings, but actual stomach-is-empty-I-need-fuel hunger. I also stand and jump and move and dance and sing and play instruments all day long, which takes a TON of energy (I teach 9 classes a day) so I am *hoping* that my hunger comes from the energy I'm expending. And then I go work out for an hour plus before dinner.

Yum ribeyes, my favorite! And I agree you got to get the good stuff.
As for dinner I am not sure what i am having yet. I have been sick, still am, so I need to make a list for hubby to go to the store. I am thinking of roasting a chicken. Today is the first day of my fresh cheese rung. I dont know if I will be eating any today. But I will try and incorporate it into a few of my meals.

Julirama--I guess that helps. I agree, it's definitely an I-need-fuel-now kind of hunger. There's no way it could be from boredom or simple craving or habit eating. I haven't worked out in two days. I planned on going this morning, but I woke up with a headache again. It was very mild, but it was enough to just keep me annoyed and cranky. So I just streteche and did a little Pilates and we'll just have to call it a day on that.

But I'm getting my cortisone shot next week for my foot so then I'll be able to run to my heart's content again! yay!

Everyone's meals sound fine and dandy. Enjoy!

                  Re: January 24 - WFD?

Pigs - smelling things helps me too! I made DH some whole wheat blueberry muffins (to try and get him to stop eating Pop Tarts for breakfast) and I sniff them ALL the time...every day at least once. Someone made some chocolate chip cookies when I went to their house and I told her I couldn't eat any but not to take them away because I loved the smell!

I have found that I am not hungry that much BUT...I get very worn out during my workouts. Another reason I was looking forward to OWL...I figured I needed a few more carbs.

BTW, last night, when I ate that mashed cauliflower and felt so sick from it...I was so full that I couldn't eat enough carbs. I finished the day at 18 net carbs and I'm supposed to be at 25! Cauliflower is so low in carbs and really filling. I was going to have some pumpkin but I just couldn't force myself to eat when I was feeling THAT full.

                    Re: January 24 - WFD?

Hi everyone, well i had a concotion i came up with, i took ground turkey, and browned it, then steamed some fresh broccoli, and when both were done putt it in a casserole dish and mixed in a package of cream cheese, with a little cream to make it more moist and topped it with just a little shredded cheddar and put it in the oven until the cheese on top melted, it was pretty good, actually the recipe i got from dana's low carb recipe book which uses spinach, and that is good too but i needed to cook that broccoli so i decided to try it, and then i had some carbs left for the day so i made me a side of roasted squash, which is my favorite veggie.
