  • Wed 1-31 Check in

Hey everybody, a warm good morning!
Well the end of jan is here, time to close down the record books and finish up the goals for the month. Time to set new goals for Feb, if you haven't already, the next step toward the next big thing you want to achieve.

Do you have dreams, well if you do, set them up in small goals to reach, step by step. Divide and conquer.
Do you have dates? Dates in time you want to "be here"... I had for dates when i started here. I wanted to be here on day 100, and Jan 1, 2007, and March 14th my 50th birthday and Aug 1 my anniv.

Each month I try and set a goal to do something big, something new. I have to have motivating goals for my very near future to work towards...

I never make it about a weight on the scale, but about something I can add into my life that will increase my quality of life! Each month you can re-set the goal, and mix it up and go for different things. When you and I do this, it changes us, it moves us forward...If we dont' reach a goal, and we have tried very hard to, well we will find ourselves farther down the road than we were before we tried....
Poke your head up and look out on the horizon, who do you want to be, how do you want to feel, where do you want to go with your life...With the energy and confidence of this way of life, you can rise up and live and give and achieve things you couldn't before!

    Hey Jess!

Yes indeed big goals for February. Thanks for the love yesterday. My big goal, quit smoking. I would like to make it through the cardio with out huffing as much. Me personally, if I don't make specific goals, I feel like a rudderless ship (so cliche). I never know what to do next. I've done great in January, am looking forward to February, and now I have to start thinking about what March may bring. Planning ahead helps me prevent those times of having things happen to me and not being able to control them, like unexpected stressful moments. I don't know why having a plan for eating, and exercising and living has gotten such a bad rap. It works for me! So plan for today? Plan for tomorrow! Great day to all!

      Re: Wed 1-31 Check in

MandaLou - speaking of a plan, I need to do a little better with my planning! I have been running to the grocery store starving every night this week because I have nothing in the house to fix! I notice that I am eating worse because I'm so hungry by the time I eat and I don't feel like fixing the veggies to go on the side. I was thinking about what I could do to change that yesterday and I think I need to get back to my planned snack in the afternoon so that I can think straight to make dinner!

My life is going to change a lot in the moth of Feb. My last day of work is Friday (three more days!). I work a corporate job at a huge company right now but on the side, I've become certified as a labor doula - which is like a profeesional labor support person for couples who are having babies (I know - big change!). I have been doing it on the side for the past year but as of next Monday, I'll be doing it full-time, running my own business from home! One thing I have noticed is that EATING AT HOME makes things so much simpler. You never have to wonder what is in this or that because you make it yourself. You don't have to worry about mindless eating while you are talking to company. You dont' have to worry about the pressure from other people telling you that you should "take a day off and get dessert." I am really looking forward to this New Life! Just a few more days left!

Thanks Jess, I'll put some thought into my Feb goals and I'll post it later.

Wonder Woman--congratulations!! I quit corporate last year to pursue other goals, even though I didn't know what they were. Turns out that becoming a hairstylist was it and now I am thisclose to becoming licensed!

Wonderwoman, I was a doula for a while...I took the DONA training and everything...It's an amazing thing to be with a woman giving birth. I use those skills constantly in what I do now...I help birth many a thing these days...it takes that gentle loving, touching, patience....

Goals are great! They give me something to strive for. Jess, you are so right about setting goals that are NOT weight related, because we cannot magically tell our bodies to lose exactly 10lb. this month. So my goal this month is to do a 5k in 33 minutes or less. I know that's still a number, but it's something that I can work at and really strive for.

Have a great day all, and achieve those goals!

              Re: Wed 1-31 Check in

I am trying to think of a "big goal" for myself and actually the biggest one at this point is to remain on Atkins for the Month of February. I just started back a week ago last Tuesday. I have been doing well so far but today a little shaky - sweet stuff has been on my mind!

But seriously I need to just remain on my plan for the next month and then helpfully the following months will follow smoothly!

I also want to set a goal to walk at least 3 days a week 2 miles each time. Plus to add more indoor exercise with my gazelle and doing some situps and such....

              Pamela

              Restarted January 17, 2009 @ 310.5 pounds; As of Sept 21, 2009 I am now 243 lbs!!!!!! 66.5 lbs GONE !!!!!!!!

              SECOND GOAL 199;
              THIRD GOAL 150!!!!!!!!!! (times undetermined)

                Re: Wed 1-31 Check in

Hi everyone, another great post Jess, Im with you Pamela, my goal for february is to stay on plan, i made it through January with no cheating and bingeing so i plan on getting through February, that will make it 2 months without cheating. That is a big deal to me to go 30 days without bingeing is something i have never done, in the past i have at least strayed away for a dinner or such but this time around im really giving it my all so i can look back and be proud of what i have conquered. I had my first test the other night when something i ate triggered some cravings that were so bad that it ran across my mind what would this hurt if i ate this and instead i went and made me some legal foods which made my calories high for the day but it helped me get over that craving to just binge. Another goal i have is to be more patient in all areas of my life, not with just losing weight but as a mom, a wife, daughter and sister. That one will probally be my goal for the rest of the year lol.
I hope you all are having a great day!!!!

Cool Jess! Most people have never even heard of a doula! I love the listening skills...I've learned that I learn more from a woman if I keep my mouth shut than if I ask questios sometimes!

Pigs - how cool! It seems that I keep meeting more people who have stepped out of the rat race every time I turn around!
