  • February goal time!

Okay. Today is February 1st, 2007. Jess mentioned the importance of setting goals and challenges each month and I have put some thought into mine. And here they are.

    1. The scale will be removed from my bathroom starting today and my boyfriend is going to take it to his office for the month of February. So I'm taking a No weigh challenge in February! Ugh, this thought is somehow more terrifying to me than anything! lol...

    2. I will begin my weight training this month at the gym. In Janurary, my goal was just to walk into the gym for at least 30 minutes and do cardio. Now that I've faced the fear of the gym and am doing an hour each time I go, it's time to face the weight room! I will work mainly on my upper body toning my arms and stomach.

    3. On days when I can't make it to the gym, I will do my home Pilates for at least 20 minutes.

    4. My challenge this month is that both my birthday and Valentines day are within 6 days of each other. We are going on a double date with our married friends and we have reservations at our favorite Indian food restaurant. I will eliminate the rice. I will allow myself some vegetable pakoras (deep fried vegetables, my favorite appetizer of all time) and no more than two pieces of the flat bread (instead of my usual 4 or 5). No white sugary russian, just a diet coke. For my birthday after that, my BF gave ourselves that as pizza night.

My real challenge in eating properly is being able to have the nights like Valentin'es and Birthdays and whatnot and enjoy some of the things I truly love WITHOUT passing it over into the next day. I know how to eat low carb. I just need to learn how to do it for life. In order to do that, I must learn to control myself by setting a time when I can allow some loosening up of the rules knowing that they are certainly temporary and that it doesn't mean BINGE! This is the hardest thing for me to conquer. Typically I allow myself one occasion a month where I can allow a little pizza or whatnot. I made it through three weeks of Induction and I think it would be cowardly for me to stay on it forever. I simply MUST learn CONTROL.

So there are my goals and challenges this month. I know you guys will hold me to it!

Are you making goals this month, too? Let's hear them!

I know this sounds lame compared to you regular exercisers, but I am so out of shape that my goal for February is to do a 10 minute exercise DVD Monday through Saturday. Hopefully by the end of the month I can work up to 20 minutes.

My goal for the month is to *attempt* to find my CCLL (it will probably take lots of trial and error to find it, but I need to at least TRY, rather than whining about it), and to improve my 5K time by AT LEAST 3 minutes. I'm not much of a runner, so I don't know if that goal is too easy or too lofty.

            My February goals

            1. Clean induction until Feb 11th (day 14) I'll weigh in then and see if I should extend induction. Probably not, I think.

            2. Cardio 5 days per week. Either walking or running for 45 min to an hour.

            3. Add weight training 3 days per week

            4. Measure myself tonight (uhg).

            5. Not to compare myself to my husband who's just melting away fat at this point.

            That's it for now

Karyn, LOL!!! I sooo know what you mean! My boyfriend and I started at the exact same day and he has lost 10 lbs already. He is now officially halfway to his goal! Meanwhile, I'm sitting here, barely lost 5 lbs and have 50 or 60 more to go! UGH!

That's okay, I'll make it. Someday, I WILL MAKE IT!

                Re: February goal time!

I am excited about February because my gym starts its Lose to Win contest on the 12th. That day will be our first weigh in, and my first time weighing myself since I started this WOE. The contest is 3 months long which is great because I know there will be some great results at the end. I pestered my husband into doing it too. He wont do Atkins, but he will modify his eating to compliment mine. We are both really looking forward to this, to have a common goal together.

                  Re: February goal time!

I plan on re-starting Atkins on Monday and am prepping for the restart. I am a basic incomplete success and complete failure when it comes to this WOE..

I went on Atkin in 2002 and lost 60 pounds and never felt better. I started running and started believing in the whole "Atkins is the devil" nonsense and ended up injured and in a desk job. The combination of working a desk, no excercise and eating "normally", I find myself right back where I started and feeling like a complete failure.

The good side is that I've been going to the gym and doing an eliptical for 30 minutes and treadmill (varied elevations and 3.5 mph pace) every other day and am working on a weight program for the various other days of the week.

I'm not back on the program yet, but will be here soon to share my progress and to hopefully get some motivation other than kicking myself!

Welome back Fozzy! You're never a failure here, just remember that. You only fail when you fail to try, you know? Good luck and stay with us!

Welcome back, Fozzy. Hey, I did the same thing you did plus I gained an extra ten pounds after going off Atkins last time.

                        I agree with Pigsinspace!

Look forward to your future success. Dweling in the past will keep you there.
