  • Check in here - 2/6

Good Morning STACers! Hope this fine Tuesday morning is treating all of you well. I know it is really cold in some locales...stay warm and keep working your Atkins.

I am alive and doing fine. No happy dance from my weigh in this morning - exactly the same as a week ago, but clothes are telling the real story....my "fat jeans" have to go or I risk indecent exposure when they fall off!!

    Great day, everyone!

Kylie, congrats on the indecent exposure.

I'm in the clutches of TOM so I have the opposite problem. I feel a bit like a sausage, even though I really don't look like one...but I can just TELL my body is retaining water. I feel bloated and stretched. I had a hard workout last night (oooh I am stiff, so that's ALSO adding to this fantastic water retention) and tonight is my rest night, which I'm very much looking forward to! I think it's going to be a good day, and I hope all of you have a great one, too!

Re: Check in here - 2/6

Hi guys! Sorry I haven't checked in in a few days. This is my first week as a self-employed person but I have been so busy! I got to the gym yesterday morning but I have a sick hubby at home today so I had to run to the store this morning for him. So I'll have to go to the gym this afternoon.

I lost 1.5 lbs last week (I think)...so my total is 10.5 lbs lost! Still feeling great and eating AT HOME makes things so simple.

Kylie - that is AWESOME about your jeans!!!!

Hi Julie - I am with you on the TOM.

Hi everyone, just checkin in and so far im having a good day, i went and did 3 miles this morning at the gym, i had to break it up, i did a half a mile on the treadmill but for some reason the front of my legs i think which is your shin but was in so much pain, thats weird i never feel that if i walk outside or what but that treadmill not sure if i just walk hard so then i did a half a mile on the elliptical and did not feel no pain whatsoever and then did 2 miles on the bike, trying to get some miles in one way or another for my february challenge, the bike is not a favorite of mine but it is one way to get some miles going!!! I am having some cravings today from my day yesterday but i already have the day planned and i will be back to normal in no time.

Yeah Lisa, that's the way to handle it, right back on top of the world!!! You go girl, kick butt...those cravings will be gone in a few days, and things should settle down...Make sure you really find a way to hold on to all you went thru as a very big reminder of how painfully disappointing this was, how loud the cravings got, how deep the regret felt.. it's all very important to use at a later date....

I am great today, just came in from some classroom visits doing my motivational deal!!! It was a lot of fun and I have a few ideas for songs in the near future.,..

            Hi Everyone!

Lisa, sounds like you may have shin splints (it's when the front of your lower leg is exteremly painful). If so it could be your shoes and/or running on hard surfaces or perhaps you aren't stretching after treadmill work. I'm not a doctor or anything just have had persoanl experience with shin splints (ouch!) You may want to bike until your leg feels better and maybe consult a professional.

I weighed in at 135.5 this morning. I can't get hubby to release the hold the scale has on him, weighing himself CONSTANTLY which gets me to wondering about my weight. UGH

I bought a new DANDR yesterday as we have moved recently and my first one is in a box lost somerewhare in the garage. I'm thinking that due to my CW and my goal I should start OWL next week after induction is over. I'm just so nervous because I blew OWL before and gained everything back plus more!

            Have a great day everyone!

Lisa--I get those pains in my shins as well. It usually means you're walking with your foot and ankle too tense. You have to loosen up a bit below the knee. Next time that happens, focus on lifting with your upper leg muscles and lift your knees higher, allowing your foot and ankle to relax more with each step. Sort of like you're marching in a band, but not as severe (or geeky looking, lol). You can feel the difference immediately relieving the pain if you're doing it right. Slow your pace if you have to in order to get used to it.

Check your shoes! If they are over 6 months old or older and you use them for anything other than workouts, they are almost certainly "broken down" to the point where they can not support properly.

Day two for me, no harm no foul so far.

Hey everybody! I feel good today, ate on plan, drank lots of water, got a great workout in....but I'm retaining water like crazy. Today was my official weigh and measure day. I got so disgusted at the scale (196) that I didn't even bother to measure. I noticed last night just how swollen I was when I took off a pair of socks and the indents were just incredible. Then tonight when I went to the gym, I used the thingies you put your legs behind to stabilize yourself....they left these HUGE dents in my legs that lasted over an hour. Ugh.

Anyway, this is my trial this week. All this up and down and up and down on the scale for MONTHS. *sigh* At least it hasn't gone back up in the 200's or I would really be depressed.

                        Hi All,

Great work everyone, Swelling will go down, and we all know that usually a few pounds go with it, so thats something to look forward to
Ok, 2 weeks ago after first day of TOM, I have been one day on, one day off, half day on, half day off. Something just snapped and I havent been able to get back on full time, eventhough I am totally upset about it and even the guilt thing isnt working. My univ.class load might have something to do with it, but no excuses. Tomorrow will be day one of a 5 day clean induction!
