Yesterday, I had an incredibly physically demaning day at work and the strangest thing happened. I was doing the center's dishes and in charge of the meals for the day, which is a normal thing. But yesterday, I kept getting called out of the kitchen to help with a few heavy-care patients who needed help changing or in the bathroom. Some of them were very heavy and after the 4th or 5th lift, I got this instant, pounding headache and my vision got momentarily blurry. I stopped for a second, and was amazed at this clamminess I felt on the back of my neck and through my clothes. I went back to the kitchen, had some water and stopped for a minute. The nurse checked my vitals. I was fine, but I still felt dizzy, and just like something was wrong. I felt beyond exhausted and my head was pounding. I wasn't hungry. In fact I had a great lunch of chicken wings and a salad and hot tea followed by some home made ice cream. I couldn't seem to snap out of it and it just felt like my body was screaming for energy. I didn't say anything to the nurse about my low-carb because I didn't want to keep feeding the public's fear of the WOE, but suddenly, I told myself that i needed carbohydrates. It wasn't a craving, it wasn't anything like that. Something just kept telling me to eat some carbohydrates. So I had a few bites of mashed potatos leftover from lunch and a bit of a dinner roll. I just sat down, chilled out, drank some water and ate some carbs. I didn't go overboard, but for some reason, I couldn't shake the feeling that was the problem. I started to level out and finished the day at work, but took it easy. I came home exhausted and drained and got into bed with some cashews and hot tea and "recovered".
has anyone experienced this? I know I should see a doctor and have his guidance, but such is life for the uninsured. Any input would be great!
