  • Planning for success this week

whoa, i JUST REALIZED, that this week is a big holiday. If you are new to Atkins, this is your first BIG HOLIDAY, to plan for. Valentines day is a day of chocholates, and special meals with our loved ones...All sorts of special treats and ideas are in the air!!!Pink and Red are dancing around everywhere...

PEOPLE WHO FAIL TO PLAN, PLAN TO FAIL!

So, what's the plan? How do you plan to go thru this week and the holiday, and remain in KETOSIS? How do you plan to stay "cheat free". What's the plan, man???
This brings up one of the first big challenges i faced while on program... I was invited to a special birthday party in a resturant. I planned to eat out, and find a way to have a safe meal. That was my plan. I called ahead, LEAVING NOTHING TO CHANCE and I knew before I stepped out what I would order. It was chinese bistro...oriental foods are traditionally laden with sugars...
I PLANNED TO DRINK alot of water before I left and have a snack, to dull my appetite...It worked...BUT I PLANNED FOR IT TO WORK!

I get compliments on my weightloss every day here. Please know they mean a lot to me, but also know, MY WEIGHT LOSS IS NO MISTAKE OR A CHANCE HAPPENING... I PLANNED TO COME HERE AND WORK HARD AND LOOSE WEIGHT. I PLAN to get thru this week and all the candy, and cakes that are looming. I plan on staying in ketosis, where my body is burning my fat for fuel, where my appetite is surpressed, where the energy zooms...
    IT's NOOOOO MISTAKE! IT'S PLANNED.
I would take this holiday seriously. I would stay extra prepared with small legal snacks you can grab in a moment of insanity. I would prepare luchious, satisfying foods that you love, like shrimp or steak or green olives...you know those amazingly good foods, and I would go out of the way to treat yourself to those. There are legal sweets you can indulge in, if need be. But, seek out a plan, and prepare. You will make it thru if you have a plan, have a path and make it a priority. Cling to it at all cost! PLAN TO!

    Good Morning!

It's going to be a weird week for me! Week #2 of Induction for me and so far all is well! A few cravings that were killed off with a little coffee w/ creme and some splenda caremel coffee stuff. I feel great so far but not sure if its the re-atkins or the new job I start today?

Went out to eat on Saturday, we went to the Golden Coral and I had steak and some of the most beautiful carved turkey, and some broccolli with real butter! It was awsome! I stuck to the water all day too!

I am still not stepping on the scale nor going near the tape until next Monday! I start my new job in about 20 minutes (I get to work in town now).

Everyone have a SUPER DAY! Drink your water!!!!

Well, hubby and I are both practicing this WOE and on induction together so no chocolates for us this year! My friends know I'm low carbing it and they don't tempt me.

Being at my DD school for the Valentines day party...well, I do love chocolate. Not the sweet stuff but the dark chocolate. This may be feeding the sugar monster but I'm thinking of having an Atkins bar, not the candy but the protien bar, before I show up. Lot's of water, too.

Jess, you always have the greeatest posts! Thank You!

Well, my boyfriend and I have never been the mushy typical gift givers. Why give flowers? They just die. Why give candy? It just makes us fat. So instead, we've ordered some grown-up toys (DVDs, CDs, etc.) for ourselves, and instead of going out to eat (because there aren't any good restaurants here anyway!) we're going to a Couple's Yoga class. So not only are we sharing the day together, we're making our bodies stronger while we do it!

My plan for Valentine's day is to serve that New York Style Cheesecake that everyone raves about for dessert with our normal dinner at home...I will be making it tomorrow. I have purchased stuff for the kiddos to take to school and haven't been tempted by it in the least...of course, I made sure not to buy any of my old favorites!

Re: Planning for success this week

My hubby is starting his new way of eating today. Today is the big 'weigh in' at our gym for the 'biggest loser' contest. We are both doing it together. So we decided last night would be our night out for Valentines Day. We had the best meal at a little french bistro type restaurant. I splurged on a glass of champagne and a glass of red wine. but everything else was legal and delicious. There was this salad made with frisee lettuce (hard to explain what it is) with a bacon vinagrette, savory not sweet, made with mustard, and a poached egg on top. OMG it was to die for. The bits of bacon with the warm egg and the cool dressing. I joked that 'haha' I get to eat this guilt free, and it was something he would be cutting out (he chooses to do low calorie/fat). Then we had a filet mignon, he had the fries that came with it. I ordered a side of brocollini. We started it all off with oysters on the half shell. Sorry about going on and on, but it was sooooooooo wonderful and LEGAL. I told my husband after the meal... you wont get to eat like this for awhile...but I could come back tomorrow! No matter how much I try and sell this WOE he just cant see himself doing it. Oh well.

Well, since we don't have a baby sitter for our 3 kids, we'll be staying in that night. Will probably have grilled steaks and mushrooms for dinner. Steak is my favorite, so that will be a nice treat. We got each other gifts from Barnes and Noble - DH has to have instant gratification so he already gave me mine - an Uncle John's Bathroom reader. For those of you love trivia, these books are a MUST!

Re: Planning for success this week

We are going out to dinner tomorrow night for V-Day at our favorite Indian food restaurant. I am having a couple of vegetable pakoras and two pieces of flatbread. I'll avoid the rice and order a chicken dish made with heavy cream and spices. I know what my CCLL is so I will just go over it a tad. But that's me, I'm in a different phase of my WOE where I am trying to teach myself control of the bad foods and not binge on them indefinitely just because I have a little. I am making a sugar free cinnamon cheesecake for our dessert. So I am splurging a bit, but I PLAN for control of the portions and right back where I need to be again the next day.

I quit my part time job today (two week's notice, at least) to focus entirely on becoming a hairstylist. I am going to apply for an apprenticeship position at a great salon. In fact, I'm a bit intimidated because I saw the website with pictures of the stylists and it looks like all the popular girls in high school. All dressed in black, trendy salon girls, you know the type. So shoot me, I like colors, you know? So maybe new clothes shopping is in my horizon, eventhough I don't like to do that when I'm losing.

I've been a bit low energy lately on the ADBB, but I'm still here and low-carbing and as pumped up as ever.

                Stay well everyone!
