    Re: Your First Atkins High

I tell the story of going thru Wal-mart on a Sunday afternoon, something I would never ever consider, too exhausting to be in there with everybody else in the whole world. Well, my daughter was back at school and she needed food so she could stay on plan. I went ahead and took off to Walmart. I had so much energy and FOCUS, usually I am at one end of the store and I remember something in the completely opposite side and would not go get it...but this day I was sooo focused, so energized and clicking along and I pass many overweight, really overweight people. I caught their eyes, heard their breathing and saw that exhausted look. I DIDN'T FEEL ANY OF THAT...I was probably only 5 or so pounds down, but I was in ketosis, and energized, and I had no ugly mood shifts and fatigue, NO FATIGUE, and I was zipping thru the terrible sunday afternoon walmart experience....I was free, free of that bloodsugar moodiness, tiredness, "irritable person syndrome", and I knew it.

      Re: Your First Atkins High

Mine was when a beautiful young lady at work was talking with me and her eyes were wandering, and she stopped in the middle of the conversation, and said, "Scooter, you've lost a lot of weight haven't you?" and to go right along with that, my wife bought me a new pair of jeans, I'd been wearing only dress pants and sweats, and shorts...size 40 jeans (I was wearing 46 tight in the beginning) and I told her, honey these won't fit, she said try them on....I was like....WOW these feel so good, they fit, and then she locked the bedroom door...and the rest is................well............................ the rest! haha!

Actually, I'm glad you asked this question.....I need to focus on all these good things that have happened to me before falling off the wagon so to speak...

      Thank you!

For me it was when I saw a friend again for the first time, about 3 weeks after I started Atkins. He mentioned that he thought I had lost a lot of weight. (in just 3 weeks), that was the sort of encouragment I needed to carry on to be honest.

          Re: Your First Atkins High

I remember, about a week and a half in to Atkin's one night....I couldn't sleep and had all this energy and felt soooo great, but I didn't know why! I am a musician and a writer and I wrote and wrote and sang and wrote that night. The notes sounded better, my mind infused my thoughts like a steel train full of imagination and words I hadn't thought to use in years. I drew. I sang. I wrote. I never went to sleep at all that night. It caused a creative burst in me that seemed unstoppable for three whole days.

But I'll tell you what, slipping into those junior low rise size 14 levi's, for me, was A-maze-ing! I felt so damn cute and hot all summer in my outfits and there was really no high like that. Getting on stage was something I used to dread because of my muffin top jelly roll. But suddenly, my belly slid down into my pants, cute belts and shoes and tops and I felt more confidant than ever. I know size 14 sounds like a lot to skinny people....but really, it feels absolutely tiny when you were a size 18 for years! So I actually had two highs at first, and those were it!

Great question--I love posts like this!

Ooo, I got one...Today we were on the road for supper and hubby wanted Arby's...yum. I was a good girl and got two roast beefs sans the bun and a small salad w/ my own dressing, SF of course! It felt so good to be in control, I stopped and thought about it and grinned the whole way home!

Thanks for sharing ya'll, this is fun!

              Re: Your First Atkins High

For me it's very simply the extra energy I get. I stop having so many allergies and I stop feeling like I'm going to die of exhaustion every time I wake up. I think the day I realized that I felt like my life had turned around, that's the AHA moment for me. It wasn't so much about weight loss as it was about feeling good.

This goes back to the 1st time I did Atkins ... when other guys I worked with starting telling me, wow you have really lost weight, etc. This group notices nothing, I could come in with my head shaved and no one would notice ....

I can't wait til people start noticing again =)

                  Re: Your First Atkins High

Ok, so I was a junior in undergrad the first time I did Atkins. I was living in a dorm with 18 other friends....and I had a big salad with chicken for dinner on day 4 I think it was and I went CRAZY. I had so much energy bouncing off walls. I then proceeded to do Tae Bo Cardio for 2 hours, which is a tough cardio workout, while my friend watched in awe. A few would jump in and do it with me, but then get tired and quit. The video taped the whole thing. After that day 4 of my friends joined me on the Atkin's WOL. It was a beautiful change from being lathargic from sugar after meals!

                    Re: Your First Atkins High

Got up at oh-dark-thirty the other day. Put on jeans/t-shirt and began running errands. Felt kind of frustrated that my jeans were feeling tighter. Figured it was TOM. Looked down and noticed that I had put on the 'skinnier' jeans (ones that I used to have to lay down to zip up). Woo-hoo!
