  • Thought for today, 2/21

Goodmorning STACers...Every morning I come here and refocus for the day. My REFOCUSING truthfully puts me on the right path to a successful day.

Each day requires focus and plans. I refocus on what I want and how to get it. As some of you know, I was in a stall, for a month no weightloss. Because our family was in a medical crisis with my Mom , I did not pay too much attention to the weight getting stuck or bouncing between a pound here or there...After all I had consistently lost almost 10lbs a month for 6 months. I had found a sugar free syrup, and was making little treats, like a mock french toast casserole with syrup over the top, and fake pancakes which were eggs and cream cheese and cream. I would eat a piece for a snack, or pop a spoonful in (only started that this last week after brining mother home)... I "let up" a BIT ON MYSELF...
On Saturday we reached day 200, and for some reason I grabbed a keto stick on my way to the bathroom, and the unthinkable was there...OUT OF KETOSIS...UNTHINKABLE TO ME.
I sat down and went over everything I had been eating. I was way out there on splenda, and the extra bites of this and that. I had just had a saturday morning piece of french toast (my mock kind)...feeling fine and now a crash!!!!
That was it for me. No more stuff! None, going back to induction. (Alot of people don't need to go back to induction and others have questioned this move, but for me, it's what I know, it's what works for me. It removes the "treats"...it gets sweets back in a place where they belong)
I was doing a modified induction. Where I kept to the basic 20gm and added in 5 gm increments...but some days, I added in 10gr increments...and then the spoonfuls! and desserts...(all legal) but causing me to take my carbs up to a place where it took me out of fat burning!

Who knows if I was "wrong or right" what I do know is I no longer was getting the results I wanted. So, I stopped doing one thing, and started doing another thing. Results are back. I am down 4lbs this week. But even more important is I was able to REFOCUS and stop myself from eating things that are not bad, but I was taking advantage of one more bite! For me and where I am going, I needed to stop that...Regain control and focus. I have goals I want to attain by my birthday! I am 2lbs from those mini goals coming true...I was 7 lbs from them last week.

I want weight loss and a healthy lifestyle, and the fact that I was able to stop eating things that were causing me to make bad choices ( a spoonful here and there is a bad choice for me) is a big victory for the lifestyle!!!!

    TIGHTENING IT UP WORKS!

Yep, no image to protect here, I'm just a girl with a problem with food and I was slowly taking tiny steps back to the old ways....just a girl with real food problems....real food problems....taking it a day at time, refocusing and working toward my goals....trying to keep my word and actions the same...nobody would know that but me, and it can either build my self confidence or destroy it...Lying or creating a successful image here, never admitting to challenges, and or bites or cheats if you want to call it that, only hurt me. The thing that would hurt me the worst would be to say one thing, and cover up the true actions... "Liars loose self respect, which is the #1 factor in building confidence", that's what I tell children... Lie and you won't try.!

Words to live by Jess. I read your post, and started thinking to myself, yeah, I've done that, hmm, done that, hmm.....yikes!!! I'm on day 3 of induction, tomorrow is weigh day...(okay I cheated...I jumped on the scale this morning...haha) and I already know that I'm headed down the right path. And by the way, your post the other day, where I was first to welcome you when you started...was the little push I needed to get things re-focused. Thank you so very very much. This board is awesome and such a motivator, I don't know why I stopped coming here.

A question though, do use FITDAY? And do you still track everything you eat, even after 200 + days? I think that is where I got off track. Several people around August were telling me that they stopped using it so I did so. Bad mistake. Anyway, just wondering!

        Have a wonderful day!

            Jess, tightening up DOES work!

Scooter, I'm on day 189 (I think!) and I use fitday EVERYDAY religiously. It's especially important now, as I'm climbing the higher rungs, that I know exactly what I'm eating and where my percentages are!

Good for you Jess. I too, have a problem loving the wrong foods, and I am so proud of you that you can step back and look at yourself and reevaluate! Kudos!

Scooter, I do not use fitday right now...I need to consider this. I did use it for a while. I am an "eyeball" girl...i count in my head...I eat alot of the same things, I have only added a couple of things like nuts, both sunflower seeds and peanuts, and I buy them prepackaged and follow the grams that way. I also eat a low carb yougert..But I never eat them on the same day...I was eating a yougert for breakfast a couple of days a week.
I probably need to pick up the fit day thing...I know I will when I go up more rungs...
I will also have to pay much more attention when I bring back more foods. But I am not really there yet.
Today I had 3 scrambled eggs with cheese-Breakfast
3 ham roll ups...ham, cream cheese and slices of cucumber-lunch

Good advice Jess. Nipping "situations" in the bud, before they get dramatic, really works! Staying on top of things and being vigilant is the way to go.
