Just wondering how it's going for you. This is my 5th time maybe? I cannot honestly remember, that's so sad! I'm wanting this to work, but it's always those darn cravings. I look around and see what everyone else is eating and feel jealous, but I know how much better I will feel if I stick to this. I also would get disappointed because I would not loose weight like I did the first time. Also the last time I was on it, I think I did not even lose 5lbs. and I was on it for a few weeks (but I probably was not being honest with myself, I cheated a little taste here and there). I am determined this time to stick with it!

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
Hey there sexywannabe, girl you can do this. I know we all flit and flirt with this, but it's such a specific diet, and it takes you to such a specific place, ketosis that this is just one of those things that has to be faced completely for your success to really happen with Atkins. I think you know it...
I think the thing you said that you have to your advantage is you feel better on this diet than off!!! Think about that, think about those good feelings, they are what drew me back!!! I knew I would feel great if I hung in there and worked my way thru detoxing and getting free of the sugars...I do feel great I feel fantastic most every day. I have finally relaxed and don't even think about "the other foods" any more, because I feel so good on this diet!
Go with those feelings, and soon you will find them again, and you know they spread! It gets better and better because as you loose weight, you gain control, and self esteem and confidence, and new clothes or visiting old clothes and energy comes back and exercise starts to make you feel great...OH YEAH, YOU DO FEEL GOOD ON THIS DIET, better than you feel off of it that's for sure!74 8/1/06

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
Thanks so much! It's going to be tough tonight. I'm at work, and they brought food with dessert!!! I brought my own version of food which is chili (they are having chili beans), so my other block to get around is the dessert. A lady made an earthquake cake arrrrgh!! I will not give in though.

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
I have! I'm back now, and being held more accountable since I'm also signed up with a medical weight loss clinic. I find I need to have someone keeping me on check, I just can't trust myself. I have to much "pity" for poor old me. HA! Self sabatoge at it's worst.
Atleast I've learned while I'm off Atkins, not to over indulge in too many carbs. I've become used to keeping it low carb, inorder to maintain myself somewhat.
To bad that once I start dieting I become weight obsessed. I'm trying to cope with that right now, my "other" obstacle.
I have it in me, I just need to do it, and so do you.Female...24 years old.

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
This is my second time. I strayed but not too far. I shan't stray again. This is my life and this how I want to LIVE my life. Rediscovering veggies is pretty awesome, you can still feel full and satisfied with this Atkins lifestyle. You just have to have an open mind and be willing to experiment with so many different things. I know one thing, I am absolutely addicted to the energy I get from it.
I'm very happy to be part of our little group here folks! Thanks for having me!

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
I guess this is basically my third time on this WOE. I really was successful on the first try, half hearted on the second and getting lots of flack from others about doing it and basically at 44years old sucumbed to peer pressure. I'm back now and this is it.I feel better and am doing ok. I didn't do too well on induction, but I found out that beef jerky is not my freind! I'm checking my ketones and they are coming back up nicely.Starting weight: 310 Current weight: 292 Goal weight: 220

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
Aw heck, I've been off and on so many times for the last three years! I don't count anymore because you know what? It doesn't matter to me. All that matters is that three years ago, I found a lifechange that I learned how to do and I know how to stick with. As far as dealing with work and food--BELIEVE ME, I hear ya!! I just had a career change, but for the previous 4 or 5 years, I dealt with food all day, everyday. I was an activity director for seniors and we always had a birthday party, holiday party, daily snacktime, a happy hour, a cooking class, bread baking, or SOMEHTING to do with food being there. Usually I was out buying it, preparing it, or passing it out myself. It was always chips and dip, cakes, mini-pizzas. Occasionally veggies and dip, but mostly pig in a blankets and way illegal foods. I am pretty strong and able to resist about 90% of the time. But when the smell of the baked bread or whatever finally started to tempt me too much, I learned to experiment with recipes like home made cinnamon ice cream (which now I make every week and put into little single serving tupperwares to get me through the wee) made with heavy cream, vanilla, eggs, splenda and cinnamon. I found legal foods that seemed to stop me from craving the illegal ones (jicama, gouda cheese with almonds, jalapeno and cheddar and cream cheese bites with bacon bits). So while everone is chowing down on that earthquake cake, you can have your "ice cream" or your snacks and not feel that you aren't participating. Seriously, when everyone else is having dessert and I'm sitting there, sometimes I feel miserable just sitting there abstaining. BUT, if I also have my own treat, I find that takes the focus off of me being miserable. And I hate being miserable so I try to always have my own thigns going on. You must find recipes, youst must prepare ahead, you must cook, you must have snacks onhand at all times. At least, I must!
So there's my two cents. You know you can do it. The only one single thing holding you back from being thinner and healthier is you. I repeat that to myself like a mantra.Felicia

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
Oh yeah, I've been on and off several times since about the summer of last year. My 1 year anniversary with the board is coming up here in April and I don't want to keep on starting over. Does it really take a year to get it right..........coming here, I have learned that it can take that long and then some.......as long as you don't give up and quit. I'm off of Atkins right now and struggling to get back in control. The weight I have taken off with atkins has not returned, so I am desperate to get back in the swing of things and start yet again before I gain again!!!
Good luck to you and keep trying regardless of the times it takes you to get it right. People don't always get it right the first, second or even third time. If we all did, we wouldn't have weight problems to begin with.........we would have controlled our weight after having put on the first 10 pounds!!!

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
This is like, my 500th time...
I started in 1999 when I was 18. I lost about 60/70lbs in 3/4 months on induction and got down to 145. Then I fell off the wagon... I figured that I weighed what I did, and I would never gain it back... until it started creeping back. I tried to start again (about 10 times at least), but at that point was living with my BF (who was anti-atkins) and it never worked longer than a couple days. Then we broke up, then I started the cycle between starting for a little, then not caring, I started exercising so I started losing weight without Atkins, which I thought was great... then I became pregnant... then I went into a serious depression due to various things... so... 6 months after my son was born, I weighed more than I did when I was pregnant with him. I wanted to go back on Atkins, so bad but basically everyone was against it... then the father and I split, I started getting my life together, going to the gym, actually started caring about myself and what I looked like (again), and came back to Atkins. Not to say that I stuck with it the first time, I ventured off thinking that if I was careful and just watched calories I would still lose... but I came back for good last August (not that I haven't slipped and downright fallen a few times, but I've picked myself back up and gotten back on that wagon) and while I may be losing slower than a lot of people, I'm doing it the right way, and I'll get there this time and *stay* there.

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
Well, now I don't feel so bad.
This is probably my 6th or 7th time, I honestly can't remember. And hundreds of false starts where I'd do good for a day or two, and fall off.
"I'll start tomorrow, no, tomorrow, I'll start next Sunday, well maybe next Sunday". Excuses, excuses for putting Atkins off.
I'd try a million other diets in between, I didn't want to give up the pasta, bread, and sweets. Wanted my cake and eat it too. But I simply cannot control my portions with addictive foods, and I think I've finally accepted that.
And I can't remember why on earth I fell off each time, after losing weight, and helplessly watched all that weight pile back on again.
I have to make this a permanent change.

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
Greetings, Everyone...
Last August, I made this post in this forum in another thread:
QUOTE:
"To make a long story short, I started Atkins on 9/11/03. By the summer of 2004, I had lost 60 pounds and was feeling good. Exercise was a major part of my life. Then, in September of that year, I went to the doctor for what I thought was a bladder infection and ended up having to have some wickedly complicated surgery that left me walking around with a catheter for 40 days. I can not lift more than 15 pounds for the rest of my life. Depression set in and, of course, I turned to food.
I had regained 35 of those 60 pounds. I have had a very difficult time trying to resume my lo-carb WOE. Two weeks ago, I just couldn't take it anymore and decided to give the NutriSystem Nourish plan a try. The fact that a month's worth of food is delivered to your door and it literally only takes a minute to prepare the food was appealing to me. I seem to have a very hard time deciding what to eat and controlling my portions, so this sort of "structured" plan sounded like a good idea. Today is day 14 for me on NutriSystem and I have, in fact, lost 9 pounds. Although this has been a success for me, I just feel wierd about following a WOE that is so very different from what has worked for me before. It is a high carb, low fat, WOE. I can tell that my clothes are looser, but the weight comes off differently on this plan. On Atkins, my huge Buddha belly was the first place I lost wieght. On this plan, I seem to just to be a slightly shrunken down version of a Buddha... I hate that.
So, after 2 weeks and 9 pounds gone on NutriSystem, I am contemplating switching over to Atkins. I just don't know what to do....
So, once again, I thank all of you for sharing your experiences. No one can make this decision except me, but it does help to hear about the trials and victories of this WOE. If you managed to read to the end of this post, I appreciate your time. I wish all of you great success on your weight loss journey." END OF QUOTE
ME TODAY: Well, I'M BACK ON TRACK!!!
I've come here to re-introduce myself to keep myself accountable. (No more just lurking) I re-started on Sunday, February 25, so I am now on day 7 and am feeling very well. I don't know how much I have lost as of yet, because I have managed to stay off of the scale so far. I will hop on tommorow morning, at my one week mark... I plan to only weigh once a week. Many thanks to each and every one of you who posts here... you are so important to me and vital to my success.
Best Wishes,

Re: Whose been back two, three, ten times lol!
Hi Mitzi,
I had considered Nutrisystem too at one point. But I knew I'd do better on Atkins. I need induction and OWL.
I'd probably eat three days worth of the carby Nutrysystem food in one day, just like with the Weight Watcher's foods.
I also credit this board with my success (along with myself of course.)
Journaling in the stat's section has also helped me alot.

Hi, Lamby-pie...Originally posted by Lamby-pieHi Mitzi,

This made me nod my head and laugh. I have about 12 days worth of dinners and lunches remaining from my NutriSystem adventure, but no breakfasts or desserts... they had sugar and were yummy, for the most part, and it was hard to stop. (and the portions were miniature) As for the dinners and lunches, let me just say... D I S G U S T I N G!!!
Yikes, they were bad.
I weighed this morning, and am 5 pounds down from last Sunday. I am quite happy with this, as I have eaten some wonderful-tasting food this week and still lost.
Thanks for your reply. Have a great day, everyone!
