  • Coming back!!

    Hello,

I had started my diet January 1 2007 and it only lasted two weeks. I did lose 10 pounds. Then I listened to a co-worker with this miracle diet (yeah right) called the 3 day diet where you lose 10 pounds in three days, it worked but i gain 8 and then some. I have done atkins before, 2 years ago I lost 38 pounds in two months. I know for a fact that it works I just need to be really commited. I need help, any ideas?, I had the book but I read it 2 years ago then I let a friend borrow it and never saw it again. I just bought a new book so I have some home homework. I am starting today, I am very eager this time, I know this way of life works. Any ideas for motivation???

    Re: Coming back!!

Just wanted to say hello, I too have been on Atkins before and lost 55 pounds (2003), but gained back 45. I am just coming back today and am l\Looking forward to another good experience on Atkins. What helped me before was reading the entire Atkins book before I started, I found it really motivating. I probably won't re-read the book this time, but I have it for a reference and I know how well it worked for me in the past. I kept a journal the first time around and am planning to start one again, that also seemed to help me. Good luck to you, me and anyone just beginnning the program. It works.
Everyday is another chance to make a difference and be part of the solution.

Hello!! Im back too!! As yucky as we may feel for coming back here...at least we fell and got back up!! ( some of us even 2 or 3 or even 4 times ) The only advice I can give is to just keep a positive attitude and keep coming back to this board, it is SOOOO inspirational and the people are so nice!! Re: Coming back!!

Good job on coming back! Personally, I don't know ANYONE who ever started Atkin's and stuck with it forever and ever and never had one setback. Is it really a setback, though? I think not. Just obstacles on discovering how to get to the healthy you that you need to become. They will always be there, for the rest of your life. So GOOD GIRL for recognizing your need for life change.

My advice for getting back started is to read the book again, study the Induction foods list over and over and over, keep copies everywhere so that you can get new menu ideas and stick around the board! We'll help you! Think of yourself as an addict. You simple must beat this addiction for your health--both physical and mental. Fat causes our bodies sooo many problems. Good luck!

              Re: Coming back!!

Welcome back both of you!! I'm a big believer in not looking back at past failures, but making plans to go forward and succeed. Everyone has a miracle diet that they try, but unfortunately it is a miracle diet because they are so hard to follow that it would be a miracle if you could stick to it. Atkins worked for me because it provided foods that I could incorporate into my life-style and not feel deprived. Also, the support here with all the ADBB friends is immeasurable. That was an important part of my journey. To have people who care and who want to give positive reinforcement is the biggest motivator in this program.
