  • Don't understand why I feel so miserable!

I am having to re-start atkins again because I started two weeks ago, and after 3 days felt so sick that I had to get off of it. I'm pretty sure it was not the induction flu. I just felt so full and bloated that I could not eat, I could not even sleep. I did not gorge myself either, and I did eat veggies. I mean I just looked at the food in disgust because I just could not eat meat anymore. What can I do to avoid this again? When I went on this diet years ago, I don't remember this, I did lose a ton of weight right of the bat though, and on this one, I did not feel like I lost any. Of course it was only 3 days, but still, before I could tell after the first day I had lost.

Do you think you are pregnant? j/k.

Maybe your body was just a little "off". Try again. If it happens again, just try to stick it out. When i'm in induction, the first couple days are **** for me, and then i'll have the really bad day of headaches/nausea/etc. and the next morning, I feel great and have my energy and am over the "induction feeling". Good luck!

Welcome back!! Its hard sometimes to stick with this plan when youre not feeling well. Is TOM a factor?? I know the last two times Ive done this it was right before TOM and it was HARD I was sooo bloated and I swear I wasnt losing any of the water I was putting in, it got better of course but it took a few days. I also think Induction flu is different every time, mine have been anyways. Maybe it was just a stomach bug, best thing you can do is just try again. How long have you been back on it? And how are you feeling so far??

Hmmm, that's an interesting delimma. All I can say is don't use that as the reason to give in. TOM, other things off in the body (IS preggers a possibility?) could throw it off. I have no idea why you'd feel bloated....just try again. It takes me a week or two to go into Induction flu unlike most people who get it after a couple of days, it is possible it's your body's way of reacting. As I get further in my attempts at this WOE, I find there are differences in the way my body reacts.

When I get sick of looking at meats, I make chicken salad, egg salad, and tuna salad and spaghetti squash. I will eat it wrapped in a romaine leaf lettuce.

          Again with the squash? lol.

Sorry inside joke, I'm sorry that you're having a hard time this time around. Could you post what you were eating those days, maybe we could toss that around and see what might have caused the problem....

Not quite sure how to approach this one...

            Hey Sexywannabe,
There is a detox time, where your body is going through the withdrawls of sugar. Where you a heavy sugar eater? Could the detoxing be stronger because you might be use to alot more carbs than you maybe even thought?
Mix up the protein, meat, chicken, fish, shellfish? Eggs? Cheeses. It's not just meat.
Are you able to drink alot of water to help flush your system out?
I agree with scooter, post your menu and lets take a look.
Hang in there girl, press on it gets better...and you will loose a ton of weight in due time.

Re: Don't understand why I feel so miserable!

The first time I started induction, I had to go home from work. I was so weak and pale, and vomiting. I think this was just a powerful die-off from yeast & sugar addiction. (Every meal prior was sugar/ carb heavy).
Last time, I timed induction for a week when nothing taxing was planned, so I could take it easy and take care of myself.
It is temporary and will pass. If you are really concerned, maybe a doctor's visit is in order to make sure everything is okay?

How are you feeling today, Sexywannabe?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Don't understand why I feel so miserable!

Thanks for everyone help and concern. I am doing great now. I am on my 3rd day, and I can tell my clothes are getting baggier. I cannot weigh myself though because I usually get disappointed and end up getting off the diet.

I was on it 3 days about 2 weeks ago. By the 3rd day I was miserable. I think I was not eating enough veggies. I was eating mostly meat, and I could not go to the bathroom and I felt so full and bloated that I could not eat!!! Now I am trying to add enough veggies, and I feel so much better! I have been drinking a diet coke here and there, but I notice when I do that I start craving sugar really bad, so I need to just go with water. What do you do when you are tired of drinking only water all the time? Anyway, thanks everyone. I am doing great now and determined to stick with it this time.
