  • It's me...formerly known as "Is this possible?"...

...I changed my e-mail address and wasn't smart enough to be able to get back ADBB under my old user name. SO....I am now "Thin is possible!" I hope now that all my old friends will reconize me! At least my new name is similiar and more positive, huh?

Well, anyhow, I have been doing some backsliding. That's what I get for letting life get in the way and not taking time to be energized by this web-site!

For those of you who don't know me, I have lost 130 pounds with this WOE and it has dramatically changed how I feel about myself and how I look! I totally believe in this program and WOE but somehow, have fallen off the wagon the past few months. My high weight was 295 and I lost down to 164. My current weight is 185. So, if you do the math, I have gained back 21 pounds and 19 inches to be exact. I electively gained back 7 to 10 as I did not like the way my face was looking. I am a pear shape and therefore to contine trying to lose the fat in my lower body, unfortunately, my upper body gets pretty thin...and I didn't like the way I looked. Anyhow, I wish I wouldn't have panicked about the way I looked and just wish I would hovered at that weight as I am not so sure that my face was just that way from enduring a huge weight loss. My friend thinks I should have hovered there at 164 for 6 months, let my body stabilize, and then maybe I would have felt "OK" with cheeks. Well, I didn't do that, and in my fearful effort to regain 10 pounds I over shot my goal and put on 21. NOW...I gotta deal with it! So, here I am at the STAC site. Thank goodness I have a place to go!

I am a little afraid to start this a second time around as I, too, have read the "One Golden Shot" article and am fearful that the weight won't come off. If anyone would like to shoot me some advice on this or if you have any personal experience, I would love to hear it! I am praying it is an old wives tale.

I will start back on induction as of 3/11/07 and I will be checking in here to have you all keep me accountable. If you will, please? I have to say that where I have slipped is in my eating choices as my exercise has reamined steady....with the exception of during that time of my knee surgery which was 3 days before Christmas. I had some recoup time but feel good that at 10 weeks post op I am back to riding my bike 10 miles or walking 5. My weight training has also remained consistent. I am thankful for the committment to excercise or the gain would have been much more dramatic I fear.

So....there is where I am in at in a nutshell. I would appreciate any encouragement I could get and would love to hear from the "old stand bys" such as Perry, Bowulf, Richt, Moochie Cat, 2 Big, Lizellen, TT Driver, and the list goes on.........

I have missed you guys! God bless, please pray for me and hope to hear from you all soon!

So...you kind of have this Prince (Artist Formerly Known As) (sign) thing going on huh?

Pleasure to meet you! I'm Scooter, we're happy to have you here in our little neck of the woods!
Well good news is, you caught yourself before itcould have been a total disaster! Congrats on that! I started at 295, dropped to 226, then gained 14 pounds between Christmas and Valentines day.....then it hit me....'you're losing it man....' got here, met up with these fine folks, helped me see the error of my ways, refocus'd, finished induction this past monday, re-started OWL rung 1, SEE THE GREAT SQUASH INCIDENT OF 2007....(nevermind, just forget that one....you really don't want to know)....then a day ago, asked by the moderators to be the spotlight host for our good newbie friends....lost 12 of those pesky 14 pounds and I'm here to say....

Don't be afraid, it's not a one shot deal. At least not that I've seen. I will say, I'm assuming your were in maintenance/pre-maintenance you're used to that bigger variety of everything.....the one negative thing I have to say about restarting...it seemed for week1 to be rough staying focused, cutting out the coffee, the 1 or 2 diet sodas, the SF Red Bulls, The SF Green Tea, blah blah the Whiskey....the Whiskey.....see where I'm going?

Anyway, I'm rambling, sorry. We are greatful to have you with us. Like I've said, I've lost 12 of the 14 in 3 weeks, by just following the strict clean rules of induction, Monday is my weigh in day, most likely I doubt that I'll show a loss, it would be good, but I'm not worried about it. I'll most likely not see a pound or two for a couple weeks, maybe so, maybe not. It's not a race to lose, I am taking my sweet sweet time with each rung this time, to figure out where I went wrong, and what lead me astray.

I hope this helps you somewhat! Either way....WELCOME!

There's a new exercise challenge starting up Monday, just committ to 20 minutes of exercise and get the reward!!!

Lets see....here's the thread....give her a try! Keep us posted and dont be a stranger!

Re: It's me...formerly known as "Is this possible?"...

Welcome back! Thankfully, you only have 20 or so to lose. Some people gain a LOT more than that back! So I'd just look on the bright side, really. The scales move differently for everybody, so just head into Induction for a couple of weeks and then hop on the scales and see where you're at. Have faith in the science. Some people come back and lose 25 lbs in three weeks.

Also-for your aneorexic on top, pear on the bottom problem, you have to balance it out by doing buns, hips, and thighs and calf work more than upper body. I'd do your cardio for 20 or 30 minutes and then get a video that focuses on your lower body. Focus on that for a few weeks and see if it helps even you out?

I am the opposite of you--I have an apple shaped body. Larger upper body, smaller legs. I do cardio to burn fat and ONLY do upper body Pilates (waist, arms, abs) to balance out my proportions. It helps IMMENSELY! I lose inches on my thighs before anywhere else and my hips and waist are the last to budge. So I stopped the bicycle and legwork to focus on all that upper body. It makes all the difference.

        Goooooooooood luck!!!

I'm sorry but I don't agree with that. I was always larger up top, that's still where I hold the fat that's left, but I work all the areas of my body extensively. By doing this, I actually have a waist (albeit a fat one, but it still goes in), I have better arms, back, thighs, calves and I'm more proportionate than I was.

Re: It's me...formerly known as "Is this possible?"...

Lyssie--It was just a suggestion based off of something a personal trainer told me. It worked for me. Everyone has different needs for their body. When I focus on upper body, I am able to slim it down and shape it to match up the lower. Then I can focus on all around body toning. Maybe I should have made it added that it was just a suggestion based off of what works for me, but that Thin should see a personal trainer to find out what's best for her.

So, Thin--that's just my suggestion based off of what worked for me. But you may be different--a personal trainer may be able to help you find out what's best for your body.

Thanks for all of the encouraging advice! I sooo appreciate it. So far today induction is going "ok". I'm not gonna say that I am not struggling a bit. I am craving a diet pop. I am sooo mad that I ever let myself get hooked on that again! I am battling mental giants as well. I am sure that you all understand those. I am an emotional eater and so I think....no....I know that this is part of my problem with the weight gain. Not only do I need to get my eating in order, I need to slay some of those "mental giants" that haunt and taunt me!!!!! I am going to keep on checking in. It is nice to meet new friends! Thanks again guys!
