  • I qualify for this forum :)

Hey everyone, I am Angie. I am on my 2nd time at Atkins - the first time I did well and lost about 75 lbs. Then ate stuff I shouldn't have, didn't start with adding a small amount of carbs, just went hog wild, had some surgeries and now find myself with about 50 of those back.

So, this time around I found this wonderful board - I posted under introductions and Scooter suggested this forum.....so here I am.

I am just finishing up day 4 and feel pretty good. I did slip up and eat some green beans....but I ate them all the time on my last go around and didn't even realize they weren't on the "approved" list. I realize now they have sugar in them, luckily I only ate about 2 tablespoons. And believe me I have eaten worse LOL

I am a breadaholic, I could eat my weight in good bread.

I truly believe that carbs are what has me fat - I don't eat alot, but I eat the wrong stuff.....sugar!!

I look forward to getting to know you all - this is a wonderful place with lots of educated people, wonderful tips and support.

Take care - I will be posting soon,
    Angie

Hi Angie. Welcome to the board. You'll find the support here the best way to keep yourself motivated and focused. Everyone is more than willing to share their experiences and knowledge.

I was a breadaholic also but seeing the results I've achieved doing without it is more than enough to keep me from wanting to go back to my old way of eating. Instead of focusing on foods that aren't on this WOE (way of eating)....fill your menus with the numerous foods that are allowed and experiment with new delicious foods. You'll find lots of recipes and substitute foods that completely satisfy your taste buds.

Re-read the book (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002)....make a plan that incorporates the principles that Dr. Atkins wrote about into your unique life-styel. Exercise, drink lots of water, take supplements and exercise. There is plenty of info here with journals, success stories, recipes, challenges (Under the challenge forum) and friends that want to see you succeed.

Getting active here with everyone who is making it happen is the best way to stay focused and keep a good attitude about the healthy changes you are making. Best wishes....look forward to reading about your success in future posts!

Hi Angie! I'm going to have to start hanging around here too. I didn't just fall off the wagon, I took the wheels off, dismantled it bit by bit then fell off when there was this big bump in the road and then rolled down, down, down a hill till I landed in a bunch of big mess at the bottom. sigh Just because I lost my job doesn't mean I had to lose my mind, does it? Hee.

FYI, green beans are allowed. Check the food list. They might be under "string" or "wax" beans, but green and yellow beans are allowed during induction.

Re: I qualify for this forum

Well, I also am newly qualified for this board. I did great on this WOE in 2003, lost almost 80 pounds. After some slips, a surgery, and a lot of stress in the last year, it's all back. I started induction in the middle of the day on Saturday, so I'm really just finishing my 2nd clean day. Best thing is, my hubby is doing this with me from the beginning this time also. We were talking Saturday morning, and I just blurted out that I am tired of being fat and feeling like crap. My BP was up at a recent physical, and cholesterol is climbing as well.

I am really feeling good, not deprived, cuz I know that it will work! I am so glad to see that there is at STAC board, I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Re: I qualify for this forum

Thanks so much for the warm welcome and much needed inspiration !! I am really loving this board and this way of life.

I guess I showed my "smartness" - duh, green beans are string beans. But when I saw on the can (I know I am getting fresh today) that there was 2g of sugar I about died. I knew I ate them all the time last time around. Oh well, you learn something new everyday, thank God.

This is a wonderful way of living, eating, etc and I am so happy to have found this board this time -- I know I can and will do it this time !! I realize that sugar, flour, etc just don't work for me and that is ok -- I will survive and be MUCH better for it !!

Welcome Jennifer - look forward to getting to know you.

Thanks again for the support - you people are AWESOME !!
