  • 2nd time...

Hey everyone. I am doing atkins again. I did atkins before I had my daughter (she's 17 months) and I lost 50 pounds in 4 months. I stayed on induction the entire time. I am so motivated and have been on induction for 2 months now however it is going REALLY slow this time around. I have read ans heard that atkins is harder the 2nd time. I hope that isn't true. But I am determined to become healthy again. I am 230 and my longterm goal is 130-140. Before I had my children I weighed 120-125. I want to go run at the park with my kids. I want to wear cute clothes. I want to feel good about myself again. It's so hard to be overweight. I love this site and the pictures and stories are so motivating and inspiring. If anyone has any advice for me or suggestions, please write. I did want to comment on those who had questions regarding the atkins bars and sugar free low carb ice cream (even the diet splenda hanson drinks) all of these things have stalled me on my first round. I realized quickly and didn't have them anymore. I plan to follow the induction acceptable foods list 100 %. I have bad arthritis (had since I was a child) and it's difficult for me to walk. I also have a bad back. Any suggestions on exercises I can do? I try to go to the gym and do treadmill and go to park to walk. It's difficult for me and I know exercise is a big part of atkins.

    Thanks good luck to everyone!!!

    Re: 2nd time...

    Hi Angela, and welcome back!
I've heard about the loss being slower the second time around, don't know if it's true or not. I wouldn't give it a second thought and just stick with it, day by day. This is probably my 6th time doing Atkins, (don't ask, lol!) and it is still working for me.
You can try some gentle exercise videos. There are some with exercises you can do sitting in a chair, and yoga and stretching always feels good.
There is a site, I think it's called Collage Videos that has lots of good exercise tapes for sale, also amazon.com

I've found that journaling on this site really helps keep me mindful of my way of eating, and my workouts. I guess I feel like I'm being watched, lol!

Get a picture in your mind of how you want to be, the clothes you will wear when you are at your goal weight, and jump in and make it happen!
    Stats:
    Age: 41
    Sex: F
    Height: 5'2"
    Highest weight ever: 170+
    Goal: 114

Welcome back to Atkins! You sound like you have a very positive attitude and that will get you far. Your loss might go more slowly this time, it might not, but if you look at it as a lifetime change that will help (at least it helps me..lol)
It's ok to stay on extended induction, but make sure that you do move on to OWL at some point so you will learn what your body can tolerate and you'll have more variety and don't get bored.
