  • Checkin in with you STAC'ers

I am doing well on induction again. Well, true confessions, I played with fire tonight when I was making some brownies for my family. Don't think I licked the spoon heavily enough to throw me out of ketosis, BUT ....I gotta get my head in the game solidly! Pray I will do better tom. Please? I keep tellin' myself that nothing tastes as good as thin feels!
"Thin is Possible!" formerly known as "Is Thin Possible?" Atkins made a believer outta me!

Hey there POSSIBLE! I am gonna call you, "possible" because if you can believe it, then you can achieve it and ITS ALL POSSIBLE!!!!
YOU do need to get your HEAD together with your words and wants. Focus and will power. Might have to lay off the brownie making for a while until you can handle it. Might need to take some time to figure out what you need to steer clear of for a while.
I did that in the early early days of induction, I went out of my way to stay and keep distance on a few things. It's all good! We need to figure it out and work it every moment of the day, until we are in a secure strong place...protect yourself girlfriend, you can do this! ITS ALL POSSIBLE. Remember PRAYER, FAITH and ACTION. Prayers alone won't save the situation, but prayer and then taking a positive clear action will release the empowering to follow all the way through!

Sometimes we are given 'obstacles', how we deal with those 'obstacles' and clear the path is on us. You don't give a bottle of whiskey to the alcoholic....as you don't sit the brownie batter in front of the carboholic.See the connection. You might have to steer clear of making goodies for the family for a bit, until you are sure you have your strength and will power at 100%. Remember Dr. Atkins says the smallest amount of sugar can prove disasterous.

We're all here for you!!! YOU CAN DO THIS! YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN! YOU DID IT ONCE, YOU WILL DO IT AGAIN!

Here is a suggestion, on a normal piece of paper type those words...

      I CAN DO THIS.
      I CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

Tape that to your refrigerator and bathroom mirror. So you see it everytime you look in the mirror or the frig. I have a 'BEFORE' picture on my Fridge and my mirror. Before I open the fridge to eat something I have to look at that picture, it somehow, causes me to loose my appetite, and think....do I really want that snack?

Just tryin' to help! Have a nice day!

You can do it! If I can dive back in after a couple of years away, anybody can do it. I know what you mean about the brownies, my son has asked me to make some for the last couple of nights, but I don't even have a mix in the house right now - on purpose. I did take him out for an ice cream last night, but I since I let one of the kids drive, I didn'e even have to touch it when they passed it into the car from the drive though, so no temptation to even lick my fingers. Just remember that nothing is easy, but the results (and you) are soooo worth the effort that it will take to accomplish this.

When you feel tempted, get on this board until the urge passes, ask for help, that's what we are all here for. Have a better day today!

Thin.. I agree with the others and would stay away from the brownies and stuff for now at least. Think of it this way.. your family really doesn't need the sugar anyway so you'd be helping THEM out too!

Scooter.. I love your suggestions about taping the stuff to the fridge and mirror. When I did this the first time and was successful, I wrote out a list of why I was doing this and a list of motivational sayings and looked at them frequently. I need to see if I can find them or make new ones.

Once your sugar cravings pass it will get easier to avoid licking the spoon. I have made brownies and cookies and just ignored the temptation. Actually to be honest there really was no temptation. If you have to make baked goods for whatever reasons I would recommend eating a satisfying meal immediatley prior to your baking. That will really kill your desire to be bad.
