  • Back to induction

This is where I get messed up every time. I have gained some lbs back, started at 174 went down to 162 and hovered around that for a month and a half, now up to 166. Have lost an inch off my hips (trying to focus on that) I know owl is slower loss but I am doing it wrong to where it is no loss and now losing ground. No more eating out. No more pizza tops. More water. more vegies. I think thats where I have gone wrong this time. Not doing any real nono's but not being strict either. Hopefully its nothing, but won't hurt to go induction for the weekend. Tuna for breakfast and lunch/ tomato/ big salad for dinner. Peparoni & cheese for a snack and water water water. Sorry to fuss but hey, maybe its cause I started the E word bike a few days ago. hmmmmmmmm maybe its the meds I am on for Strep Throat. Maybe its the lower caffeine intake. Not going to give up. Will get this figured out. Glad I have a place to vent. Just freeking out because have worked at this since Jan and just CAN'T gain that weight back.
Will check back in tonight. NOT GOING TO QUIT. WILL NOT LOSE ANY MORE GROUND Feels better to state that.

    Are you working out ?

Your weight gain could be some lean muscle mass that you've added as a result of working out.

      Speedy, take heart.

I think that this is what OWL is all about. Adding in new foods, oops, that's no good. Ditch this food and try that one instead. We are discovering trigger foods and eliminating them, discovering portion control, listening to our stomach instead of our tounge, figuring out what works and what doesn't, and figuring it out the hard way.
My loss is also slow. Although I am technically cheat-free, I've found that there is food in almost every rung that I've had trouble with and really had to watch. A lesson learned every week. I had troubles with low-carb ice cream on the dairy rung, trouble with salted pumpkin seeds on the nut rung.
So we tweak OWL into something that works for us as individuals, and the scale numbers continue overall their slow crawl downward. I say overall, because everyone's weight fluctuates and bounces around. I say slow, because few of us will continue to lose like we did in induction, and the more we lose, the more it will slow down.

You deserve a pat on the back for hanging in there, when some people would just throw their hands in the air and quit.

Thanks Lamby and War, was in real bad detox from coffee this morning, just not ready to give that up yet. War I have only just started riding my E bike for a couple of days just slow to start, so no muscles on this little turtle. I need to look at OWL that way Lamby its all try it and see what happens. Feel much better about the process that way. Just had a real cup of coffee. Will try the detox thing when I have a couple of days off.

I agree with lamby-pie - you definately deserve a pat on the back. I hope that I can be be as motivated as you this time and realize that one month is just a little drop in the river.

Usually when I stall for a long time it causes me to start trying a milliion different bad things and then falling completely off this WOE.

            Speedyturtle,

You're doing very good. They are correct. Find out what is good and what causes stalls in you. You know, it's going to take a little time, don't rush through the rungs, I did that and sprialed out of control. I'm taking it very slow and easy. If I lose a pound then that's good. If I gain....well, back off somehing that I was eating and such and push forward. You mentioned pepperoni, have you read the label, most of them have corn syrup in them, (sounds odd I know) but hormel, ecrich, most of them do. you also mentioned pizza toppings, most of your pizza establishments use generic sauce, which once again has added sugars, Domino's, Pizza Hut, Donato's etc. You could be slipping yourself a sugar mickey without even planning or realizing that your doing it. I'm sorry to break all that you hon, I'm really really just trying to help you. Man, they hide SUGAR in everything these days and it makes it very difficult your faithful Atkineers!!

Read your labels! Best wishes for a wonderful weekend! Keep riding that E-bike too!
