  • M.T.A.C. (million time around club)

There ought to be a place for those of us who are "millionth time around" . . .

Just thought that I'd brag that I made it through one day yesterday. One day. That's it. Scary, isn't it, to realize just how proud I am of that ONE day. No cheats, no excuses.

Whew! Now, just to get through another one.

Of course, with my birthday coming up on Saturday, do you think I could have picked a better time to re-start Induction?!!!

Re: M.T.A.C. (million time around club)

Congratulations on making it your first day. That's really all any of us can do, make it through one day at a time. Pretty soon, all those one day's turn into a lifestyle (hopefully).

So, you asked, and I shall answer. Do I think you could have picked a better time to re-start induction with your birthday coming up on Saturday?

    Nope.

I think you HAVE picked the PERFECT time. Give this gift to yourself. This gift of LIFE and HEALTH. This year's birthday gift is to create a new birthday tradition of an active, healthy, NORMAL eating person. Make this year's birthday about something ACTIVE and FUN and SELF LOVING instead of about cake that has made you FAT and MISERABLE in life.

How bout that for an answer??

      Hey Ladyhairg,

I agree with Validrouge...this IS the right time to begin again...
Honestly, if it weren't your birthday, it would be Christmas and if it weren't Christmas it would be Easter, etc.
Everyday is going to be littered with it's own little landmines that you need to maneuver around...it's just a matter of making this a lifestyle, committing yourself to it and being determined.
I know that you can achieve this...one day at a time...with all of the great support people provide here.
Welcome back and congratulations on your first day clean

I'm seconding and thirding ValidRouge and CathyJoBob - it's a great time to restart! Probably by Saturday you'll be in ketosis and it won't seem as bad as it might today to do without the C word.

Re: M.T.A.C. (million time around club)

Okay, I'm up to day 4 and still going strong. I think that's a personal record for me. Bless you all for the good advice and support you've given me. You are all absolutey right -- eating this way isn't about deprivation. It's about giving myself that gift of health and well-being.

I'm already planning ahead for my birthday -- the boss wanted to bring in lunch for everyone but I asked her not to. She kept saying that it's my birthday so I deserve a treat. I finally told her that DH is taking me out for dinner and I want to be REALLY hungry, so I'd rather just snack on my own "lite" stuff at lunch time. Also, my Mother-in-law is going to bring in a cake to the salon that morning -- there's no stopping her; she's like a raging river -- and I'm going to set it out by the coffee station to share with my clients.

DH says I can choose any restaurant I want for dinner, so I'm choosing Finley's, where I get a free steak on my birthday. I know I get a free dessert, too, but my kids always eat that anyway. Right off my plate!!! No problem there!

A little planning, a lot of determination. And as my friend, the recovering alcoholic, pointed out to me -- Induction Flu is WAAAAY easier than the DT's she went through.

You're soooo lucky that you have so many people in your life who want to make your birthday special! It's just to bad that everyone wants to celebrate with FOOD.

Also, from experience, I think sugar withdrawl and alcohol withdrawl are similar - especially the psycological component. Think about it, your mother and your boss wouldn't think about insisting on having a 40 of vodka at work to share with everyone on your birthday if you were a recovering alcoholic!

I know you'll stay strong tommorrow.
